Training Needs

• Training is needed regarding the content and the topics subject of the new European Directives and Policies, such as INSPIRE, SEIS, GMES, WFD, PSI, etc

• Training is also needed to support European project development

• Training is needed about the new technologies related to access and management of Geographical Information, more and more popular, in and with a European dimension

• In such a context, GISIG is developing a line of action able to integrate various experiences and offer to its Members and the GI Community different training opportunities, according to a flexible and “interoperable” schema

Training and SMEs perspectives

SMEs could get important benefits regarding Training in the context of INSPIRE:•On one side, they have the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills or to improve their knowledge•On the other side, they could play an active role being themselves promoters of training actions and increase their portfolio of services (towards Public sector, but not only) and offering training

NESIS (ICT-PSP Thematic Network)A Network to enhance a European Environmental

Shared and Interoperable Information System

• To provide a coherent ICT roadmap for the SEIS implementation, with the consolidation of existing best practice.

• To promote the uptake of ICT solutions to address the fundamental problems faced by public authorities in providing information related to monitoring and reporting environmental data.

• To support a shared vision for streamlining current information and reporting systems and to promote the adoption of an interoperable information infrastructure

Page 27: Geographical Infomation Systems International Group Dialogue Session on Leveraging SMEs Strength for INSPIRE 16 th May, 2013 SMEs Perspective in Training

I. NESIS approach and SEIS requirements A combined Top-Down and Bottom-Up approach for the identification of the

requirements for the ICT component of SEIS

II. ICT Services for SEIS NESIS proposal for a technological Roadmap for the SEIS implementation

III. Guidelines for technical implementationAbout “how” SEIS could be developed

IV. SEIS specific ICT aspects

V. Towards SEIS implementationIt propose a possible action plan for the SEIS implementation

Main outcomes -> Training Courses- “Towards the ICT implementation of SEIS”

- “NESIS Good Practices for SEIS” – about ICT aspects of environmental data management (methods, technology, procedures)

BRISEIDE Training Actions

Based on two proposed Training Paths:

BRISEIDE for Decision Makers▪ This Training Action is aimed to provide to data custodians

and end users the required background knowledge useful to operate with the BRISEIDE system and guidance to use the proposed solutions in their organizations.

BRISEIDE for Developers▪ This Training Action is devoted to developers and

technicians interested in the BRISEIDE architecture, developed services and the setup and maintenance of the system.

Report on the Training Actions

The “Briseide for Decision Makers” Training Action counted 55 registered users from 14 different countries

the “Briseide for Developers” counted 61 registered users from 16 countries.

A detailed monitoring for each of this users is available thanks to the administrator view of the e-Learning Platform.

Since the beginning of the action, 252 logins have been counted.

After the completion of the Training action modules the user is invited to compile and sent a courses evaluation/questionnaire form.

Based on the feedback received, the offered material has been improved or better tuned.

If requested, Participants to the Training actions can receive a certificate about the participation.
