HEIMAT IS A SPACE IN TIME picks up the biographical pieces of a familytorn apart through the end of the 19th and into the 20th century. It is aboutpeople who by chance found each other, only then to lose each other. Nowit is their descendants, their children and grandchildren who are beginningto disappear.
This is all about speaking and silence. First love and happiness lost. Fa -thers and mothers, sons and brothers, the affairs, the hurt and the joy inlandscapes of transition – each bearing the intertwining, hallmarks of theirtimes. A collage of images, sounds, letters, diaries, notes, voices, frag-ments of time and space.
HEIMAT IS A SPACE IN TIME is a journey of reflection of time and the loveheld within using sounds, images and language. Yet some of it shall re-main forever lost.

Performance artist Vittoria Hopkins has made a career out of largetableaus of half-naked people, addressing the guilt of the viewer in theface of their vulnerability. Her latest work THE RAFT has all the ingredientsof a landmark: classical references, naked body-painted people lying stillon a canvas and an accusatory monologue, written from the perspectiveof a drowning man in the Mediterranean Sea.
