The 2nd annual 7th Inning Stretch Festival will be held August 9, 2014 in Uptown Shelby. This year’s
format includes the 5K at 8:00 am with all registration fees going to the American Legion NATIONAL EMERGENCY FUND. The festival will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm and will offer the same fun as last year with some added attractions. The festival is the American Legion World Series committee’s way to show their appreciation for the tremendous job our community does in hosting and providing southern hospitality for the series’ participants and fans.
We are currently in the planning process and are in need of additional sponsors, festival vendors
and volunteers for the 5K and festival activities. Visit www.7thInningStretch.cc to get involved.

Corey Smith
The evening’s headliner is singer-songwriter Corey
Smith, who grew up in Georgia, majored in social
studies education at the University of Georgia and
taught high school world geography and world history
before turning to music full-time. In a January 2014
issue, “Country Weekly” called Smith “one of country
music’s most astute songwriters.” A guitarist who
combines rock and blues with his country, Smith has
released nine albums. His most popular songs include
“Twenty One,” “If I Could Do It Again” and “I Love
Everyone.” His most recent video, “Ain’t Going Out
Tonight,” was released in late 2013. His current tour
includes at least 21 venues between now and his visit to
Shelby. All concerts during the Festival are free of
charge. The stage for the concerts will be placed at the
intersection of Lafayette and Warren streets.
