Getting Back What The Enemy Stole From You

Seven critical requirements for the complete recovery of your

most precious possessions.

Requirement #1

What was stolen from you must have legally belonged to you.

The Amalekites robbed David and his men of their wives and children and all they had worked for. The enemy may have robbed you of the one you planned to marry, your good health, or your peace of mind. You need to go after what was stolen from you and get it back! Not part of it but all.

Requirement #2

What was stolen from you must be so precious to you that its loss had a powerful emotional impact.

(1 Samuel 30:4) A rational, "Oh well, I can begin all over again" will not help you to recover what was stolen. David and his men were emotionally distraught. His men spoke of stoning him until he did some ‘soul control’!

Requirement #3

You must recover yourself before you begin to think of recovering what was stolen from you.

David first “encouraged” (repaired, strengthened, fortified) himself in the LORD his God." (1 Samuel 30:6) It will not be what was done to you that will damage you but your negative reactions to what was done to you.

Requirement #4

When you have your own soul under control you will be ready to seek a word from the LORD that promises victory and full recovery of what was lost. (1 Samuel 30:7-8)

Don't ask God for a promise that you are too emotionally damaged to do anything with! Sort yourself out first.

Requirement #5

You should accept that not all of those who start out with you will reach the camp of the enemy. (1 Samuel 30:10)

Some will be so emotionally damaged and physically exhausted that they will drop out along the way. (1 Samuel 30:22-25) Be kind to them.

Requirement #6

You should expect that God will lead and guide you in unexpected ways, en route to the battle. (1 Samuel 30:11-15)

The sick and abandoned Egyptian slave was an invaluable soure of intelligence. David’s promise not to kill him helped to locate the enemy.

Requirement #7

After regaining what you lost, and more, be generous and share the spoils of victory with those who went as far as they could, as well as those who were able to go all the way. (1 Samuel 20-31)

David gave liberally, with an eye to the future. Loyalty cannot be bought, but rewarded effort pays dividends.

“Soul control’ is assurance gained through self-talking key bible verses to rebuild confidence after the shock of a sudden and unexpected turn of events. The words “O my soul”

mean “myself” (Psalm 42:5-6 & 43:5). In modern language “O my soul,”

simply means, ‘I say to myself” (Psalm 103:1-3) King David talked to himself, and so should you and I!
