• A Blended Learning solution combining ease of access through the use of technology, along with the human touch for improving speaking and listening skills
What is Virtual Group?
• Offers structured learning with carefully matched classmates, a tailored curriculum and a dedicated, native-English Coach
• Focuses on speaking in a wide range of business situations, along with the related skills of grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening
§ Flexibility: No need to go to another building or another room to join a class with your colleagues.
§ World-class guidance: The program employs some of the world’s best business coaches, giving you better access to guidance and skills that are really relevant to your everyday work.
§ Consistency: With the same Coach and classmates throughout an entire program, you will learn more effective ways of working together to achieve both common and individual goals.

Getting Started
§ To place you in the right group for your needs, we need to know your current English speaking level. There are 3 ways to have a speaking level entered and/or recognized :
§ If your English speaking level has recently been assessed, your company can provide us with your result;
or
§ You must be assessed before you start your program using a GlobalEnglish assessment tool;

GlobalEnglish Virtual Group Welcome Email
When you receive the GlobalEnglish Virtual Group welcome email from [email protected], please click on the
Get Started icon.
You will be asked to set your password and confirm your personal details
Confirm Your Profile Details
It is important that you confirm your profile information, including your country and city.
This will confirm your time zone needed to place you within your group
What Happens Next?
Once we have your English speaking level, the coordination of your group begins. Note that we cannot place you into a group without your speaking level, so we encourage you to complete the assessment as soon as possible to avoid a delay for your first Virtual Group session.
Your sessions will be arranged for a time within normal working hours, Monday to Friday.
While you are waiting for details of your Virtual Group sessions, you should start working on the exercises recommended on the One Home Page. Also please explore the many features and tools available 24/7 to help you work and communicate effectively in English.
You will be grouped with learners of the same or very similar speaking levels as yours, and who are also in the same or similar time zone

Program Details Email
Within 1 to 2 weeks , you will receive the Program Details email with the following information:
• Coach name
• Session day & time (please check that this is in your correct time zone)
• Session start date
• Frequency of sessions
• Duration
• Cancellation policy
* Sessions can only be cancelled and rescheduled if all of the group agree. If you are not able to attend a session, you will be marked absent.
Check Your Calendar
At the top of the page, choose Virtual Group
Once you have received your programme details, you can see all of the planned sessions in your Calendar.The Calendar can be accessed by clicking on Virtual Group at the top of the One Home Page.

It is highly recommended that you synchronise your planned sessions with your own calendar (Outlook, Google Calendar, etc).

You will receive a confirmation email from [email protected] at least 48 hours before every virtual group session.

Attending Sessions
Accessing Virtual Group Sessions
On the day/time of your Virtual Group session, connect to login.globalenglish.com and click on Virtual Group.
On the day of your first Virtual Group Session, plan ahead ! We recommend that you connect 5 a 10 minutes prior to your session.

If you need to contactyour coach directly, click on the Trainer name.

Connecting To Your Group With GoToMeeting
• You will need a headset to participate in your Virtual Group.• If you need to use a telephone (preferably a landline), you must first log into the virtual classroom
to see the dial-in details on the screen.• Use the GoToMeeting control panel to select your audio option (microphone or telephone). You
can also send chat messages to your coach
Meet Your Virtual Group Classmates
• Virtual Group is an interactive experience and your coach will want to share materials with you online so it is not possible to participate by audio only.
Cancelling or Re-
arranging your
sessions
Important to Note
Virtual Group sessions are a group class and the scheduled sessions will continue, even if not everyone is able to attend.
If you are not able to attend a session please notify your coach at least 12 hours before a scheduled session. You will be marked as absent from that session.
A session may be rescheduled only if the entire group agree. In this case, please arrange with the Coach to reschedule the session. Sessions must be rescheduled before your GlobalEnglish Virtual Group license expires.
Example 1 - Cancel a Session
“I cannot attend class next Thursday because I will be on holiday. What do I do?”
• Log into Virtual Group. Click on the session from the Calendar then click on the Cancel Session button.
• You will be marked as “Absent” and you will not be able to reschedule the session.

“The time given in my program details isn’t convenient. What do I do?”

After your session
Session Report Email
Within 24 hours of a completed phone session, you will receive a session report email from [email protected] with links to your session report and session details.
Session Report
Virtual Group session reports provide your group with constructive feedback from your coach on your performance.
For confidentiality reasons, this report can only be viewed by the people in your Virtual Group and the coach.
Rate your Session
Your feedback is important to your employer and to GlobalEnglish.
When you access your session report, you will be asked to provide a session rating and you may leave a comment. The rating indicates your level of satisfaction with the coach and the subject of the session. You should not rate your own performance during the session!
Rate your Coach
You may also rate your coach to express your level of satisfaction with him or her. From a session report, you can click on your coach’s name and leave a rating and a feedback comment.

Additional features
Learning Journal
• The analytics show your recommended areas for improvement based on your coach’s feedback in the session report.
• Flashcards are personalized based on the feedback provided by your trainer. They will help you discover how well you have learned the target language.
• Journal events are another way to view detailed feedback from your sessions.
In addition to the link on the homepage, learners can view their session report via the Journal area or via the Calendar.
Learning Journal - Session Report Entries
Use the detailed session reports in your learning journal to see areas for improvement. The Session Report allows you to review feedback from the session:
1. See feedback from the trainer, categorized into Mistakes, New Words, Pronunciation or Other. Pronunciation entries have the 'hear it' feature*. Click the speaker icon to listen to the pronunciation. (*English only)
2. Click the checkbox to indicate that the entry has been learned.
3. Export the entries for offline practice.4. Read trainer comments about the session.5. The Session Report can be rated after being reviewed.
