To verify the imaging capabilities of thin Ni electroformed mirrors, we realized a 0.13 mm Au coated shell exploiting the largest JET-X mandrel
the thickness has been diminished of a factor 8.58.5 with respect JET-X/SWIFT

Proposed new Mirror design for XIPE
• 3-mirror modules with FL=3.5 m
• 27 shells with the same thickness as for NHXM,
diameter min=183 mm, max=400 mm
• Electroformed in Ni (or NiCo) with Ir+C coating
• Total weight of 1 MM is ~40 kg (shells 30kg, 30%
structure, total for 3MM=120 kg)

CONCLUSIONS
Gianpiero Tagliaferri – INAF/OABrXIPE – ESA/M4 -Roma 05-11-14
• 3 MMs with ~1400 cm2 at 1-3 keV and 750 cm2 at 8 keV
• Same shell properties as the ones developed for the
Simbol-X & NHXM programs
• Same technology and integration scheme used for
BeppoSAX, XMM-Newton, Swift, eROSITA, so TRL≥6?
