Give Thanks for God’s SWEET BLESSINGS NOTE FROM BROOKE: Preschool Families- A thankful heart is a happy heart! November is a great time to thank God for His many blessings. I hope that you will use the family faith talk and candy corn themed activities on this page to create meaningful family memories that encourage gratitude and praise to God. Blessings, Brooke Gibson Minister to Preschoolers (205) 871-7324 • [email protected] FAMILY FAITH TALK: Gather: a Bible, "Count Your Blessings" Bookmark (provided), candy corn Say: In the Bible, Psalm 118:1 says, "Give thanks to the Lord for he is good. his love endures forever." God made us, love us, and is so good to us! Let's name some of the blessings or good things God has given us. Do: Read the poem on the bookmark and give each family member 3-6 pieces of candy corn. Encourage each person to name one thing they want to thank God for before eating each candy. Close with a prayer of thanksgiving! COOKING FUN: Gather: Mini Pretzels, Hugs candy, and candy corn Say: We can show God that we are thankful for His good gifts by sharing with others. Let's make a special treat for family and friends. Do: Follow the recipe below to make Candy Corn Pretzel Hugs. Attach a note that includes Psalm 118:1 to candy pieces and deliver candy pieces and deliver to friends and neighbors. Preheat oven to 250F degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Align pretzels on the sheet. Unwrap Hugs and place one on each pretzel. Stick in the oven until the hug begins to melt down (about 4 minutes). Remove pretzel hugs from oven and gently press a candy corn down on each one. The Hug should flatten out when you press the candy corn on it. "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever." Psalm 118:1 CRAFT TIME: Give each child a candy corn shape. You can print one from the Dawson Preschool Ministry website (www.dawsonchurch.org/preschool; Click on Family Resources & Programs), or cut a triangle from the center of a paper plate and draw horizontal lines to divide it into 3 sections. Children can decorate with orange and yellow paint, crayons, or paper pieces. Then, have children name three things they are thankful for and write one on each of the candy corn sections. You could make additional crafts to create magnets, mobiles, or thankful trees.
