«Glasi» HergiswilThe only glassworks in Switzerland

Glass has been made in Hergiswil since 1817. That was when the Siegwart brothers found an ideal

new production site at the foot of Mt. Pilatus.

Following serious economic problems, the Sieg-wart glassworks was threatened to close in 1975.

But the «Glasi-Lüüt» (all individuals related to the «Glasi»), the Hergiswil council and above all

Roberto Niederer managed to save it. Niederer put new life into the traditional craft and introduced

design principles that remain effective to the present day. Shortly before his death in 1988, his

son Robert took over as director of the Glasi. Robert Niederer has been running the company

ever since.

We «Glasi-Lüüt» wish you a delightful and relaxing visit to the «Glasi» Hergiswil.

The «Möwe» hall, (seagull) features glass gulls, which were designed by former «Glasi» patron Roberto Niederer for Mövenpick inventor Ueli Prager on the occasion of the opening of the first Mövenpick restaurant in 1953 in Zurich. Seats 52.

Romantic. Head in the clouds. Profound.

In the «Buchwalder» Hall, glass panes from the 1980s are inscribed with the story of the close artistic friendship between Lucerne painter Ernst Buchwalder (1941 – 2014) and Roberto Niederer. Seats 48.

Poetic. Spontaneous. Independent.

The «Flugi» Hall will surprise you with another work of art: locally prominent artist Hans Küchler (1929 – 2001) from Olten collaborated with Roberto Niderer on the glass «Glasi aeroplanes. Küchler, who was known as «Flügerli-maler» («painter of little aeroplanes»), documented this process extensively in documents. Seats 30, also suitable as a meeting room.

Dreamlike. Playful. Delicate.

Explore the most unique glass factory in Switzerland. Watch the glassblowers at work and feel your way through the magical glass labyrinth – the only one of its kind in all of

Switzerland. Afterwards, enjoy a short break in the Glasi-Restaurant «Adler». Enjoy the

creative variety of small dishes, snacks and house specialities, served on hand-made

«Hergiswil glass».

We request that you make a reservation for groups of ten or more people. We are

happy to design a special lunch, dinner or «Zvieri» menu for tour groups, clubs or groups

of friends. Here at the Glasi-Restaurant, we stage surprisingly different interpretations of well-known classics and add a dash of fire

to your plate.

Do you still have questions? Become part of our family of glassblowers by having your special event at the Glasi-Restaurant. Just

«Landi» Restaurant & Tavern

The legendary «Landi», founded in 1939! Most of us weren’t around to witness this

impressive exhibition in person the first time around. But we can still experience

the ambience – at the «Adler» restaurant in Hergiswil.

«Glasi» Hall Seats 180

Our flexible banquet hall can be separated into three smaller spaces: «Möwe»,

«Buchwalder» and «Flugi». Each of these halls is one part of a very special story.

Welcome to the

Glasi-Restaurant «Adler» Hergiswil

This is a place where three legendary attractions show off their very best side: the «Glasi», the

«Adler» restaurant itself and the scenic beauty of central Switzerland and Lake Lucerne.

Since 1994, the Glasi-Restaurant «Adler» belongs to the «Glasi». At the the Glasi-Restaurant,

we stage surprisingly different interpretations of well-known classics and add a dash of fire to

your plate.

Our chefs smoke our fine Orkney salmon themselves, prepare fresh «Hacktätschli» (minced

meat burger) and swear by cordon bleu with «Urner» (Mountain-Kanton of Switzerland) cream

cheese, herb butter and farmer’s ham.

The Rotisserie «Glasi chicken» – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside – is as much a cult favourite as the «Adler» itself. You’ll love dishes

such as the juicy gourmet Swiss chicken, several of which are prepared fresh daily. Served

with an herby butter sauce and chips, it’s so good you’ll just have to hope it isn’t sold out by

the time you arrive.

Glasi-Restaurant Garden Terrace

We couldn’t be more centrally located in central Switzerland! Enjoy the beauty

of Lake Lucerne and watch the hustle and bustle on the nearby docks.

Seats 140.

How to reach usArriving by railway, car or coach/van

from the Hergiswil railway station. Those who arrive by car can take advantage of the free parking

spaces (passenger cars and coaches/vans).

Arriving by boatFrom the Hergiswil landing dock it’s a five minute walk.
