Principal’s Message

Thank you to all the parents who came and had a cuppa with me on Monday morning. It was lovely to meet you.

This week, a small group of staff members got to have a close look at the stone work which is being done to repair the main building. It looks great! I’m pleased to let you know that the scaffolding will be coming down very soon, and you’ll all get to appreciate the beautiful building once again. Work will continue on the ground repairs until January.

I’m looking forward to my first Glebe P&C meeting next Tuesday evening. It will be held in the staffroom at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome.

Grandparent’s Day is next Friday. It kicks off with open classrooms from 12, followed by lunch, and then an assembly. I hope to see many of you there.

Have a great weekend!

Get Down Low and Go, Go, Go

Peer Support Week 3– Cooperating and Listening During Peer Support this week the children will look at qualities their friends may have and the concept that we choose friends based on the qualities we admire in them. They will also explore the skills of friendship, specifically those of cooperating and listening. During the week encourage your child to show they are interested in the person they are talking to by being an active listener.

Stage 1 are

learning about fire

safety.

Environment

From the Office Ms Paula Callen, our school librarian, is looking for volunteers to help cover books. If you would like to help out please contact the school. Thank you! Please note that Book Club orders are due in by Tuesday, October 30. Just a reminder to return all notes and money to the office as soon as possible. Thank you!

P&C News

Term 4 meeting - Tuesday, October 30th @ 6.30pm

Our first of two meetings for Term 4 will be held next Tuesday. All parents/carers/interested parties are invited to attend.

For those who are new to Glebe PS, P&C meetings are a great opportunity to meet other families, get to know the staff and keep yourself updated on what's happening at the school. For those who are keen to get more involved through volunteering on P&C projects, you can find out about ways to do so. However, there is no pressure to commit to anything - you are welcome to come along just to hear what's happening!

Childcare is provided (free of charge) on the school grounds at Centipede for the duration of meetings, which usually conclude between 8 - 8.30pm. If you have children below school age, please contact Centipede first to confirm if they are able to attend - call Vic or Jen on 9692 0663.

NSW Curriculum Review

The State Government recently announced that they have 'commenced a review of the NSW school curriculum to ensure our education system is preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. This is the first comprehensive review since 1989.'

As parents, carers and/or P&C members, we have all been invited to have our say on the NSW school curriculum. You can do so by going to this page: https://www.nsw.gov.au/improving-nsw/have-your-say/nsw-curriculum-review/

Feedback and submissions close on November 30.

'Friends of Glebe School' email list

Don't forget that by joining the 'Friends' email list, you also sign up to receive Glebe Matters electronically. Imagine not having to pull a crumpled, squashed fruit-covered newsletter out of your child's bag each Friday!

To join the list, email us at [email protected] and we will sign you up.

Cheers

Rachel - VP

Newsletter via the School’s Email

This week Glebe Matters was delivered to parents via email from the school’s email address. Please let us know if you would still like a paper copy, or just duck into the office and grab one. Also, please let us know if you received it in multiple email ad-dresses, and advise us which one to use. Thank you! [email protected]

Important Information

Each week a call out for items that the Pantry needs will be listed in Glebe Matters and an invitation for people to donate. People can drop off items to Centipede between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday during the term. The pantry will be open for access during Centipede opening hours. It's located near the sign in table in Centipede. People can either help themselves to items in the pantry or contact one of the Centipede staff who can put together a bag of items for you. THANK YOU!
