GLUE Materials (per child) Some cultures consider the dragon a sign of good luck. Perhaps flying this dragon kite will bring your students good luck. Dazzling Dragon Kite Curriculum Connection Science Invite students to research kites. Provide students with a variety of research materials. Have each child use the materials to find out how a kite flies. Invite her to share her findings with the class. VaReane Gray Heese • Omaha, NE Directions 1. Fold the piece of construction paper in half lengthwise. 2. To make the nose of the dragon,round one end of the folded paper with the scissors as shown. 3. Scallop-cut the opposite end of the folded paper for the tail. 4. Unfold the paper. 5. Use markers to draw dragon details and other designs on one side of the paper. 6. Glue the ribbon strips to the tail end on the undecorated side. 7. Glue the construction paper strip atop the glued ribbon ends for durability. 8. Glue the sequins to the head of the dragon. 9. Let the project dry completely. 10. Fold to crease the kite just past the head area or at about four inches. 11. Tape the straw behind the head area. Hold the straw to fly the kite. one 6” x 18” piece of colored construction paper several 6–8” lengths of curling ribbon one 2” x 6” construction paper strip 1 drinking straw sequins markers scissors glue tape
