Classification Of FireClassification Of Fire
ExtinguishersExtinguishersPortable and semi-portable extinguishers are classifiedby a combination letter and number symbol. The letterindicates the type of fire the unit could be expected toextinguish and the number denoting the size. (See 33CFR 145.05 and tables .05 (C) & .10 (A).
Type indicators are as follows:
“A” ALPHA for fires in ordinary combustiblematerials
“B” BRAVO for flammable liquid fires
“C” CHARLIE for electrical fires
