ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME

The Music for Meditation calls us together. Please use this time in silent

meditation as we prepare to worship and meet God in this place.

Music for Meditation

Words for Preparation: “Sometimes you must stand still in order to get moving to where God wants you

to go.” D.A. MC Bride

The Playing of Chimes

Welcome, Announcements & Greeting Mary Beck, Lay Pastor

During this period, please sign the Friendship Pad, pass it through the pew and

back to the aisle. If you have special prayers of praise or concern, write them on

the cards in the pew racks, fold in half and pass them to the center aisle at the

time of the prayers for the people. We conclude by singing together:

“We Are One in the Bond of Love”

* We are one in the bond of love, we are one in the bond of love.

We have joined our spirit with the Spirit of God

We are one in the bond of love.

Let us sing now, everyone; let us feel God’s love begun.

Let us join our hands that the world will know,

We are one in the bond of love.

The Call to Worship Nancy Harber

Leader: By faith, God’s people passed through the Red Sea. By faith, the walls of

Jericho fell.

People: We come in faith, calling on the name of God to save us.

Leader: Is a cloud rising in the west? Is the south wind blowing?

People: We come in faith, calling on the name of God to save us.

Leader: We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, who showed us the way

to run the race set before us.

People: Strengthen us, Holy One. Let your face shine upon us and keep us safe.

*Hymn “The God of Abraham Praise” Hymnal #49

*Prayer of Adoration

*Congregational Response “Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!” Hymnal #305, vs 1

Come sing, O church, in joy! Come join, O church, in song!

For Christ the Lord has led us through the ages long!

In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!

ACKNOWLEDGING OUR NEED FOR MERCY

Prayer of Confession Leader: Shepherd of Israel, God of hosts, Spirit of faith, you have planted us like

choice vines, expecting us to yield sweet grapes, good fruit with which

to feed the world.

People: Yet, we have yielded wild grapes, bitter fruit unfit for eating.

Leader: You have cleared the way for us, digging the earth and removing stones,

expecting us to bear the sweet fruit of justice and righteousness for a

hungry and hurting world.

People: Yet, the fruit we yield is bitter, as bloodshed and evil are done in our

name.

Leader: Forgive us, Holy One, for ignoring the cries of anguish that rise up to you.

People: Restore us, God of hosts that we might yield good fruit to serve and

feed a broken and hungry world as we continue to listen in silence for

your voice alone….

(Continue in silence) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon Leader: God fills us with life and love, offering us forgiveness and grace

whenever we call on the name of the Holy One. In the name of Christ,

you are forgiven.

People: Thanks be to God.

*Gloria Patri Hymnal #581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the

beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Prayers of the People

Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily

bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us

not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom

and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Giving God our Tithes and Offerings

Offertory “The God of Abraham Praise”

*Doxology Hymnal #606

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here

below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy

Ghost. Amen.

*Prayer of Dedication People: All praise and honor be unto you, O God, for your faithfulness

throughout the ages. We could offer you nothing were it not for

Christ, our Redeemer. We could not walk obediently without your

Holy Spirit to guide us. We could not bring you our offerings except

for your grace. We are yours, blessed God. Use us and these our gifts

to further your mission on earth. Amen.
