1.0 QUIZ MODULE
The Quiz activity module allows the teacher to design and build quizzes consisting of a large variety
of Question types, including multiple choice, true-false, and short answer questions. These
questions are kept in the Question bank and can be re-used in different quizzes.
2.0 QUIZ SETTINGS
Creating a new quiz is a two-step process. In the first step, you create the quiz activity and set its
options which specify the rules for interacting with the quiz.
In the second step, you add questions to the quiz. This page describes the options you can set for
the quiz activity.
2.1 Add Quiz module in courses
• Click on the button
• Click on Add activity or resources button and choose Quiz and click Add button.
• In setting part, you must input information about the Quiz. Such as Quiz Name,
Timing, Grade, Layout, Review Options and Extra restriction on attempts.
2.2 General section
• In general section, you can add name and description

2.3 Timing section
• Make You can specify when the quiz is accessible for people to make
attempts. Before the opening time the quiz will be unavailable to
students. They will be able to view the quiz introduction but will not be
able to view the questions. Quizzes with start times in the future display
both the open and close date for students.
• Tick on Enable box to set the start and end date.
2.4 Grade section
• In grade section, you can set the grade to pass, attempt allowed and the
grading method (if you choose more than one attempt).

2.5 Layout & Question Behaviour section
• In layout section, you can set the layout for your quiz or test. E.g. new
page for every question.

• In Question behaviour section, you can set the question order whether
you want the question to shuffle or not.
2.6 Review option section
• In review option section, controls what information students will be
shown when they review. Such as during attempt, after attempt, while
quiz still open, and also after quiz is closed.
2.7 Appearance section
• In appearance section, you can put decimal places in grades.
2.8 Extra restriction on attempt section

• In extra restrictions on attempts section, teacher can set the password
for student to attempts the Quiz or Test.
2.9 Overall feedback section
• In overall feedback section, teacher can set a grade boundaries and give
feedback to the grade boundary.
2.10 Common module settings section
• In this section, you may choose to display the quiz or hidden. You can
also choose the group mode (if you have and already make a group in
system
).

• Click on Save and return to course
3.0 BUILDING QUIZ
3.1 Adding questions (adding a random question)
There are ways to add questions:
1. Click the Add question button to begin a new question
2. Click "Add a random question" to add a random question, providing there are
questions in the question bank already.
• Click Edit Quiz button
• Click on a new question to add a question.
• You can create a random question by click on the button

• Give a name for the set of random questions. Then click on Create
category and add random question button
3.2 Quiz Layout
• Click on See question to create a question

• System will ask you to create question in question bank.
• Choose type of question you wish to make (e.g. Multiple Choice)
• Give a Question name, question text (unique name to be referred later-just
for teachers review), and the default mark for the quiz.
• Tick the box to shuffle the choices.

• Enter the choices of answers and the grade for the choices (100% grade for
the correct answer else put as none). Then click Save changes button.
• One question successfully added. You can edit by clicking on . Click on
to duplicate, to view and to delete. You may duplicate it and
just change the question name, text and the choices of answer.
• Type of question is true false.
• Give a Question name, question text (unique name to be referred later-just
for teachers review), and the default mark, and the answer for the question
whether true or false. Then click Save changes button.

3.3 Previewing the quiz
• Display 2 question out of 4 question in question bank. Click Preview to test
the quiz.

• Click Start attempt button to try how the quiz work. You may find out
randomly question from the question bank is in the quiz (it will display two
question out of four question of question bank.
4.0 USING QUIZ
4.1 How student take a quiz
• Click on the quiz link on the course page and read the information to
check you're in the right quiz.
• Click on Attempt quiz now button.
• Click on the Next page button at the bottom of the page to see the next
page of questions
• Click on the flag in the box next to the question to put a temporary
marker on it
• Notice the Quiz navigation block in the upper right corner. You can use it
to jump to any question. Question boxes for the current page are in bold.
Flagged questions will have a "red corner" in their box.
• To finish the exam, click "Finish attempt" in the navigation block of
"Next" on the last page of the exam.

• The "Summary of attempt" page - reviews the questions and alerts you to
questions not attempted.
4.2 How teacher view a quiz
Note: Once a quiz has been attempted, it is not possible to add or delete
questions unless previous scores are removed.
• When attempts have been made on the quiz, the teacher can click the quiz
name and access the reports by clicking the link "Attempts - (No. of
attempts.
5.0 QUIZ RESULT
5.1 How teacher see the result
• Click on Results to see the report of quiz
• You can set what to include in the report. Such as category of attempts (In
progress, Overdue, Finished, never submitted). Then click on Show report
button.

5.2 Manual grading
Manual grading is for essay type of question. Teacher will give manual grading for
essay type of question.
• Administration block > Results > Manual grading
• Click on grade in to grade column
• After student answered the question, teacher may give comment and mark
for the quiz. Then click Save and go to next page button.
