What some folks think is synonymous with being content.

Is this what God’s wants for us?

God Wants Us To Be Content

Proverbs 19:23 -- The fear of the LORD leads to life, So that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.

Philippians 4:11-13 -- …I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am….in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry…I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

1 Timothy 6:8

If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.

Content with whatever God provides.

Hebrews 13:5 Make sure that your

character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have ; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"

But God Wants Me Alert

Ephesians 6:18 -- With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints….

1 Thessalonians 5:6

…so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.

1 Peter 5:8

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Ephesians 5:14-16

For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you." Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

God wants me to be busy

2 Thes. 3:11 -- For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

Philippians 2:12-13 -- Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
