COme visit us Our factory outlet store is located at Golden Kernel Pecan Co. in Cameron, a small town just off I–26 exit 149 near Orangeburg, SC. From I-95: take exit 97, 301 South to 176 North to Cameron. Turn left on Hwy 33 (Cameron Road). Golden Kernel is located at 5244 Cameron Road. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a visit.
Before the turn of the 20th century, Dr. S.J. Summers, a family physician of the Cameron community, brought from Mississippi the first pecan seedlings to be set out in South Carolina on a commercial scale. From that modest beginning, his son, David K. Summers, Sr., planted pecan orchards on the Summers Family Farm and elsewhere in South Carolina. Mr. Summers also built the first shelling plant in the Carolinas, Golden Kernel Pecan Co., Inc.
Today, Golden Kernel Pecan Co., Inc. is owned and operated by David’s two sons, David K. Summers, Jr. and J. William Summers, and has expanded to include many other distinctive foods of the Carolinas.

Mona’s Pecan Chocolate Fudge is an old family recipe for all your special occasions.
Mona’s Pecan Chocolate Fudge
5 cups sugar1 can Carnation Milk
2 sticks margarine1 pkg. Chocolate Chips
3 cups chopped fresh pecans
Bring to a boil and boil for 6 minutes. Add fresh pecans. Stir in chocolate chips. Stir until they are melted. Pour into greased cookie sheet. Let cool, then cut.

Christmas Fruit Cake Cookies One of our favorite holiday recipes from grand-mother’s kitchen.
1/4 cup Carnation milk3 cups plain flour1/2 lb. margarine3 eggs1 cup brown sugar1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 cup sherry wine1 lb. candied cherries1 lb. candied pineapple7 cups of nuts1 lb. chopped dates1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Place small drops of mixture on cookie sheets and cook 25 to 30 minutes at 300º. Makes 80 to 100 cookies. Will keep a long time in an airtight container.
Pecan Pie A great recipe to use your bulk pecans.
1/2 cup butter1/2 cup sugar3/4 cup white corn syrup1/4 cup maple syrup3 eggs, slightly beaten1 teaspoon vanilla2 cups pecans Cream butter and sugar until light. Stir in syrups. Add beaten eggs. Add vanilla and mix well. Add nuts. Pour into two unbaked pie shells. Bake at 325º for one hour. Makes two pies.
