Frame 1: The first frame within the teaser trailer for Gone Girl shows a gathering of people who want to find the missing character of Ben Affleck’s wife played by Rosamund Pike. This is a key shot because it is an establishing shot which introduces us to the movie instantly and puts us in the story where we can focus on the story and understand where the story is set.Frame 2: The second frame within the teaser is a low angle shot of Ben Affleck’s character talking to a congregation of pople regarding his missing wife. This shot is important because it introduces us to the protagonist of the movie which is done so that the audience can get invested in someone that is crucial to the story. Frame 3: The third frame then shows us another low angle shot of Rosamund Pike’s character in the bath. This shot is very similar in effect with the second frame because it then introduces us to the character of Rosamund Pike who is the antagonist of some sorts. Frame 4: The fourth frame then shows a mid shot of the two main characters of the movie inside their household. This shot shows us an argument between the husband and wife which is very clever as it plants the seed that the couple will argue a vast amount within the movie.Frame 5: The fifth frame then shows the exact same scene with another mid shot but from a different viewpoint within the scene. This shot is very similar to the fourth frame as it once again shows us the married couple arguing which once again reinforces the notion that they argue a huge deal within the movie. Frame 6: The sixth frame then shows a mid shot of Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike’s characters enjoying a meal within a restaurant in a mid shot. This shot is very important to me because I believe it shows us the contrast of the relationship of the couple as we now see them enjoying each others company and getting along with one another in comparison to the previous shots. Frame 7: The seventh frame then shows a mid close up shot of Rosamund Pike’s character drowning in the water. This shot is very peculiar because it doesn’t reveal what is happening but is very drawing into the story because the viewer will want to see what is happening to the character. Frame 8: The eight frame then shows a wide shot of the town that the movie is set in to allow the viewer to understand what the setting will look like. This shot tells us the title of the movie which is ‘Gone Girl’ at the end of the teaser trailer so that when the viewer has stopped viewing the teaser trailer, the name sticks with them. Frame 9: The ninth frame finally shows us a pan shot of the town where the movie is set to show the audience more of the setting of the movie. This shot gives us the release date of the movie which has been done very cleverly at the end so that the viewer can see at the very end when the movie is released so it sticks with them more.
