Overview This release of Good for Enterprise includes software for Good Mobile Control 2.7.4 and Good Messaging Server 8.1.6. For a complete list of handhelds that are compatible with this server software, and additional details and known issues about a specific device/ROM/carrier combination, refer to the Good Monitoring Portal | Supported Devices (www.good.com/gmp). The Portal also lists which handhelds are covered by Good’s Technical Support. Note: This release of the Good Messaging server supports downgrades only to versions 7.0 and higher. These notes include a list of new features available in this release, usage issues that have been resolved, and issues that have not been sufficiently resolved and will be addressed in a future release. The issues are identified by component and a brief description is given. A workaround is provided if it is available. For more information, contact your Good representative. Lotus Domino Messaging Servers that host mailboxes must be 8.0.2 or higher; we strongly encourage customers to migrate to the latest version to take advantage of the many

enhancements that are available. Domino servers installed with and used by the Good Messaging Server for directory services and mailbox access must be 8.0.2 or above. As part of the Good Mobile Messaging Server upgrade to this version from versions less than 6.5, the local cache directory structure on each user device is modified. This operation may take some time. For this reason, the upgrade process will take longer than for typical GMM upgrades. The greater the number of devices managed by the server, the longer this time will be. Factor in this additional time required when scheduling the upgrade.

For Domino health checks performed during Good Messaging Server installation or upgrade, add the GoodAdmin service account used for the installation to Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Debug Programs. Hot Fixes: To achieve a rapid turnaround, hot fixes do not undergo the same level of testing as service or feature releases. Hot fixes are available, by request, from Good Technical Support. All defects addressed in hot fixes are included in the next scheduled service or feature release.

Mandatory upgrade of older versions of Good For Enterprise Good Mobile Messaging servers to support SHA-256 Signed Certificates

There is an industry-wide initiative to deprecate the use of SHA-1 for signing digital certificates, and replacing existing SHA-1 signed certificates with certificates that are signed using SHA-256. The industry goal is to replace SHA-1 with SHA-256 by the end of 2016. Many companies and products have already started this migration. BlackBerry uses SHA-1 signed certificates in the Good For Enterprise Network Operations Center (NOC) to provide authentication to the various products that connect to the NOC. The current SHA-1 commercial certificate, issued by Thawte, expires in a few months, and it is no longer possible to renew SHA-1 certificates. BlackBerry will be updating that certificate to one signed using SHA-256. This will require existing customers to update the root certificate (stored in their Good servers) used to validate the NOC certificate.

Customer Action

In order to prevent any service related issues, it is mandatory that all customers install the new root certificate in Good Mobile Messaging server Exchange and Domino by September 1st, 2016.

No action is needed for the Good Mobile Control (GMC) Console.

To assist you in installing the proper root certificate, you can either update the Good Mobile Messaging servers or add the root certificate to the server certificate store. Failure to install the proper root certificate will result in a failure to authenticate when attempting to connect to the NOC. Therefore, taking action is mandatory to avoid any service interruption.

Upgrading to the following GMM servers will automatically install the new root certificate.

For best practices, it is recommended that you also upgrade your Good Mobile Control Server to the latest Generally Available version located here. The GMC should always be upgraded before the GMM server.

Option 2: Adding the Root Certificate to the Certificate Store

For customers who cannot update their servers by the affected date, the certificate can be installed manually, as described below. Step 1: Make a backup of the Good Technology\Good Messaging Server\etc\ssl folder.

Step 2: Stop the Good Mobile Messaging service.

Step 3: Extract the two files from the cacerts_gfe.zip file into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Good Technology\Good Messaging Server\etc\ssl directory.

Step 4: Start the Good Mobile Messaging service. Step 5: Log into the GMC and verify that you are connecting to the NOC.

The hot fix in this release has been developed to address an urgent specific issue within customers’ environments. This release includes functionality that allows the admin to resync the GFE calendar on a user’s devices. To do so, the admin issues the following command from the Domino console resident on the GMM Server host that is servicing the user’s devices:

tell goodlink resynccalendar SMTP_ADDRESS_OF_USER

This command will resynchronize the GFE calendar on all devices for the user associated with the SMTP address provided.

Disabling SSL V3 for GMM

GMM server supports only SSLv3 and TLSv1.0 for GMM-to-GMM connections. GMM server also supports TLSv1.1 and TLSv1.2 for GMM-to-GMC/NOC connections. By default GMM uses SSLv3 to communicate with other GMM servers. This release supports the administrator’s ability to disable the SSLv3 protocol by adding a registry key, as described in the following section. This registry key forces the connections to use TLSv1.0 instead of SSLv3. Ensure that all GMM servers are upgraded to this version before disabling SSLv3. Failure to do so will disrupt move-user functionality between GMM servers.

Architectural improvements: This release addresses Good Mobile Messaging (GMM) performance problems relating to memory fragmentation. In this release, the GMM server process is split in two, increasing the total virtual memory available to the two new processes. The first of the new processes retains all interfaces except those to the Domino server. This process (GdDomSyncSrv.exe) replaces the Good Mobile Messaging Server and Windows service (Good Messaging Server) of previous versions. The second process incorporates all interfaces with the Domino mail server and is called Domino connector (GdDomConnector.exe). The life cycle of Domino Connector is automatically handled by Good Mobile Messaging Server. MIME processing provides better HTML integrity, which improves HTML rendering on Clients for mail sent from external providers and Domino Web Access. Previously, embedded images would be missing or distorted. Customers can now view HTML email exactly as it was meant to be viewed, since the HTML is taken directly from the source instead of being converted as was done previously. Encrypted Email

This release includes support for the Good iOS and Android Clients to read Domino encrypted email messages. Domino encrypted emails are read by GMM Domino Server from the user’s mailbox and are decrypted by the Server before being passed to the Good Client. To enable this feature, navigate to the policy assigned to the user device in the GMC. On the Messaging page, click on the Enable Domino encrypted email checkbox. The warning that the feature is not supported on iOS and Android does not apply to the 2.x versions of the Client.

Enabling Detailed Calendar Reminder Notification

If desired, enable detailed calendar reminder notification (sending subject/location for iOS Calendar reminders). Set the following registry string value as shown to enable this feature:

• The Good for Enterprise clients for iOS and Android are backward compatible with Lotus Domino Messaging Server v.6.5. However, new features in the clients will not be supported.

Even though Good Mobile Messaging Server for Domino v.6.3.1.14 and earlier supports Domino v.6.5, we strongly encourage customers to migrate to the latest version of Lotus Domino Messaging Server (e.g. v 8.0) to take advantage of the many enhancements that are available.

User suspension

In this release, GMM Server includes a new stability-related enhancement that will result in the suspension of individual users who cause continuous server restarts due to a corrupted mailbox. When triggered, the user is suspended from the system and related information is logged into the system event log. In addition, the administrator can receive an email notification by setting the following registry value under

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\GoodLinkServer\parameters\sync” “NotifyUsers”

to a string value that contains the email address that will receive the suspended notification. The email is sent via the mail server that the “user being suspended” belongs to. If the GMM is set up for special mail routing ( i.e., via registry keys) then this email is sent via that server. Recovery of the suspended user The administrator should run IBM’s recommended maintenance on the mailbox of the suspended user and then follow the steps in the suspended user email, which are:

1. On the Lotus Domino server console (on the Good Mobile Messaging server machine), run the command "tell goodlink restoreuser smtp_address_of_user".

1. On the Good Mobile Control console, click on the user handheld. Select "Messaging" on the left panel.
