Special Education
During COVID-19
Zoom Meeting Date:

We are all navigating the changing landscape
of Education in these uncertain times.
Our intention is to provide information, resources
and support for educators; including related
service providers and educational technicians, as
they work to engage students, parents, families
and caregivers participating in and accessing
Tele-Education.
The Whole Child
5 Tenets

a healthy lifestyle.
2. Each student learns in an environment that is physically and
emotionally safe for students and adults.
3. Each student is actively engaged in learning and is connected to the
school and broader community.
4. Each student has access to personalized learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults.
5. Each student is challenged academically and prepared for success
in college or further study and for employment and participation in a
global environment.

Their Children at Home:
• Cyberbullying may increase during the current health crisis.– Develop clear expectations for online teaching platforms and communicate them with
students and parents alike.
– Check in frequently with the students and families that you know may need deeper support.
– Reinforce with parents that their child may need to connect more with their peers through social media and to be patient with their child's irritability at the current state of things.
• Typically, students have school professionals to support them in
times of emotional upheaval or crisis• In the home environment they may not have the support that they need at this time.
– Working parent
– Absent caregiver
