Hi! Well. It's gooa to be back home. Forthe past three weeks I have been attendingthe Stamps-Blackwood School of Music atMurray. Kentucky. I was really impressedwith the school.

Every morning to start the day we wouldgather in an Auditorium and havedevotions. All of the time this would bedirected by the Students. Then we wouldhave theory class for one hour and a half.At eleven o'cloc-k choral technique class. This is where everyone participates insingin.

In the afternoon we would have Historyof Gospel Music and Quartet trainingtaught by J.D. Sumner. During Historyclass we had such speakers as BrockSpeer. James Blackwood, John T, Benson. The III Norma L. Boyd Exec. Secretaryof G.M.A. Paper.

Every nightwewould have some formofentertainment. Such groups as the StampsQuartet, Speer Family, BlackwoodBrothers, and The Happy GoodmanFamily performed. We also had a talentcontest, watermelon party, skit night, andmany more activities.

Closing out the school was the banquet. The Speer Family performed along withthe Stamps-Blackwood Ensemble whichconsist of approx. 15 vocals and a 12 pieceorchestra. I also performed with theEnsemble. We sang Bless the Lord andStatue of Liberty arranged by Harold Laneand directed by Ron Calhoun. TheEnsemble also plans to sing at theNational Quartet Convention this October.

So far Ihaveprojected this school tobeafun time and it is. You get to meet peoplefrom everywhere. But it is also somethingmuch much more. The spiritual uplift Ireceived was really worth it all. OnSundaymorning Don Butler, vice-president of theschool, would speak and share a fewscriptures with us and we would end it upby singing. On Sunday night we wouldhave wespers out on the back lawn of thecampus. Everyone would form a circleand have a chance to share their testimonyor a song. It was really great. All of theinstructors were also.

If you would like further information ofthe school write: Jane Ann McCubbins,P.O. Box 477. Munfordville, Ky. 42765 orphone 524-9702.

Showman Pick Most PromisingGospel Group of 1976

This group showed more promise, excitement, and friendliness during the convention than anynewly-formed group in years. With just 4^/^months on the road as a fulltime group and anumber of new faces in the group, Willie teamedup with Elmer Cole, is showing people across thecountry the reality of Gospel music and being aChristian.

During the past4i^ months the "Tennesseans"have hit songs on their first album on Heartwarm

^UC MIC MIC

ing label, part of a new nationwide TV program,"Music City Special", and special guest on otherprograms and the credits could just keep on goingon.

The experience of "Mr. Friendly" (LittleWillie) and Elmer songwriting and the talent ofDave Harvel and Dave Maddox teamed with agreat band that the "Tennesseans" have as backup you just got to have a great group.

So the next time you hear the "Tennesseans"are coming your way be sure you go out and seethem and we believe you will have to agree that"Willie Wynn and The Tennesseans" are the mostpromising Gospel group for 1976.
