The Dy CM, while address- ing a gathering after inaugu- rating 17th science exhibi- tion of Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti J&K, said that educa- tion plays pivotal role in pre- serving our rich cultural her- itage and historic legacy and in this regard Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti is one such example which is sowing the seeds for fostering real Indian values and basic tenets of our society. Earlier, while inspecting the projects and practical works by the students of var- ious institutions of the Samiti, Dr. Singh appreciat- ed their efforts in displaying such science models in a very impressive way. On the occasion, the stu- dents also exhibited projects on environment, crop pro- duction, farming, disaster management, mathematics etc. Dr. Singh also asked the principals of the various institutions to promote the concept of integrated farm- ing among the students through the assistance of SKAUST Jammu. He said interested students should be taken to the University for practically understanding the multifaceted scientific ideas which can be proved fruitful for improving the existing agriculture system. Referring to the science exhibition, Dr. Singh also said that there should be no hesitation in organising such programmes which are linked with our civilisation and foster our original value besides laying strong base for coming generations to imi- tate, preserve and transmit the same. He elaborated that the indus- tries, business and con- sumers are badly affected with this toll tax and they made a hue and cry for withdrawal of toll tax from the State, but State BJP- PDP Govt. doesn't bother. BJP should clear its stand over discriminatory attitude of PSC: Manohar Scooty rider injured in mishap STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A sccoty rider got injured when his scooty was hit by a truck at Samba. According to a report, a scooty (PB35U- 7864) coming towards Samba was hit by a unknown truck near Ghgawal resulting in the scooty rider getting critically injured. Injured identified as Narinder resident of Shahpur Kandi Pathankot was shifted to Ghagwal Hospital from where doctors referred him to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for treatment. Police has taken cognisance into the matter and started investigation. Man falls from train, dies STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: A middle aged person probably (pilgrim) fell from moving train at Mian Bagh and got critical injured. However the injured succumbed to injured while he was being shifting to hospital.According to a report, a middle aged per- son suddenly fell from a moving train which was on its way to Udhampur from Jammu. Sources disclosed that victim suc- cumbed to his injuries while he was being shifted to District Hospital Udhampur. Police has registered a case for investi- gation. Restrictions around examination centres STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: For smooth and fair conduct of annual exam- ination to be conducted by J& K State Board of School Education for Higher Secondary Examination Part -II ( 12th class) and Secondary School Examination (10th class) com- mencing from 26th October 2017, at various centers in the district, District Magistrate, Ravinder Kumar imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC on the general public for not entering or gathering within a radius of two hundred meter from the examination centers. Besides, restrictions have also been imposed on the use of loudspeakers within a radius of 200 m from the venue of the examination. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga on Monday said the government has taken various path-break- ing steps for providing better road connectivity to the people of the rural areas. The minister was speaking after kick-starting blacktop- ping works of road link from Ramgarh to Chak Bana and Chak Salarian and Smailpur to Derra being executed with a cost of Rs. 1 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said road connec- tivity brings development with it and the government is work- ing relentlessly to provide all basic amenities in rural areas at par with urban areas. Stressing that the govern- ment is creating new assets for the people in rural areas, the minister said proper utili- sation of these assets is the responsibility of the locals and they should take proper care of the public assets. Interacting with the locals, the minister listened to their grievances and assured them that concrete steps would be taken for improving sanita- tion, healthcare and educa- tional facilities in the border villages. He asked them to take maximum benefit of the state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes which have been implemented for uplift- ing the living standards in rural areas. The minister asked the con- cerned to maintain quality while executing works besides ensuring that the roads get blacktopped within a stipulat- ed time frame. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi on Monday emphasised upon the officers to explore all pos- sibilities for promotion of adventure tourism in Reasi District which has immense scope and potential in this specific tourism sector. The Minister, while chair- ing a meeting of tourism and district administration, said that the district is blessed with religious tourism where around one crore tourists from across the globe visit annually. She said this huge number of tourists if diverted towards adventure tourism, health tourism etc, can change the economic profile of local areas in particular and of State as a whole. On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Director Tourism Samita Sethi and other officers were present. The minister instructed the officers for involving local people before starting tourism related activities in their areas so that impending bottlenecks are removed eas- ily. She also instructed the Tourism Department to start adventure activities courses for generating employment opportunities for local peo- ple. The minister also directed the Tourism Department for supplementing the existing banners and boards from Jammu to Patnitop and from Jammu to Katra with public- ity of adventure tourism. The department was also instructed to complete all tourism buildings in district Reasi for their further utili- sation at an earliest. Earlier, AD Tourism Umesh Sham apprised of the potential of adventure tourism on 12 km stretch from Bara dari to Dera Banda Bhadur. He said that there is immense scope for promoting zorbing, zip lin- ing, rock climbing, rappelling etc. The minister also sought details on the progress of infrastructural development at Siard Baba for which it was informed by the officials that tenders for raising cafe- teria, wayside amenities, landscaping and beautifica- tion of the tourist destination has been floated which would be followed by start of work soon. As far as development of infrastructure at Bhim Fort, it was informed that all the components like parking, electrification, restaurant, toilets, benching etc have been raised and the same would be thrown open to the public shortly. The minister asked Deputy Commissioner to identify the land and also provide other logistics so that adventure tourism can be developed in the district. She also stressed for laying focus on forthcom- ing world's highest bridge at Bakkal and said that this will emerge as another tourism hub in the district. The DDC inspected work on Tribal Hostel, Community Hall and Shopping Complex and directed the SDM for hand- ing over Tribal Hostel and Community Hall to Rural Engineering Wing for com- pletion under convergence plan. Meanwhile, five shops con- structed under TSP will be handed over to Social Welfare Department for out- sourcing. Departments were directed to complete these projects in next three months as more than 7-8 years have lapsed beyond the timeline for completion. Dr. Shahid also inspected the proposed site for con- struction of Government Degree College and asked MD J&K Housing Board for early construction. The team of officers also visited bus stand, revenue complex, Aadhar enrolment centres and other establish- ments. SDM Kalakote was directed to fix responsibility of officials of J&K Minerals Ltd for alleged encroach- ment and sale of acquired land in Kalakote and its vicinity. It was also decided that enrolment camp for migrant voters will be organised on 6th November 2017 and a mega camp on education awareness will be organised in Moughla by departments of education and Social Welfare. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Minister of Statefor Tourism Priya Sethi onMonday emphasised uponthe officers to explore all pos-sibilities for promotion ofadventure tourism in ReasiDistrict which has immensescope and potential in thisspecific tourism sector.

The Minister, while chair-ing a meeting of tourism anddistrict administration, saidthat the district is blessedwith religious tourism wherearound one crore touristsfrom across the globe visitannually. She said this hugenumber of tourists if divertedtowards adventure tourism,health tourism etc, canchange the economic profileof local areas in particularand of State as a whole.

On the occasion, DeputyCommissioner ReasiPrasanna Ramaswamy G,Director Tourism SamitaSethi and other officers were

present.The minister instructed the

officers for involving localpeople before startingtourism related activities intheir areas so that impendingbottlenecks are removed eas-ily. She also instructed theTourism Department to startadventure activities coursesfor generating employmentopportunities for local peo-ple.

The minister also directedthe Tourism Department forsupplementing the existingbanners and boards fromJammu to Patnitop and fromJammu to Katra with public-

ity of adventure tourism. Thedepartment was alsoinstructed to complete alltourism buildings in districtReasi for their further utili-sation at an earliest.

Earlier, AD TourismUmesh Sham apprised of thepotential of adventuretourism on 12 km stretchfrom Bara dari to DeraBanda Bhadur. He said thatthere is immense scope forpromoting zorbing, zip lin-ing, rock climbing, rappellingetc.

The minister also soughtdetails on the progress ofinfrastructural development

at Siard Baba for which itwas informed by the officialsthat tenders for raising cafe-teria, wayside amenities,landscaping and beautifica-tion of the tourist destinationhas been floated which wouldbe followed by start of worksoon.

As far as development ofinfrastructure at Bhim Fort,it was informed that all thecomponents like parking,electrification, restaurant,toilets, benching etc havebeen raised and the samewould be thrown open to thepublic shortly.

The minister asked DeputyCommissioner to identify theland and also provide otherlogistics so that adventuretourism can be developed inthe district. She also stressedfor laying focus on forthcom-ing world's highest bridge atBakkal and said that this willemerge as another tourismhub in the district.

The DDC inspected workon Tribal Hostel,Community Hall andShopping Complex anddirected the SDM for hand-ing over Tribal Hostel andCommunity Hall to RuralEngineering Wing for com-pletion under convergenceplan.

Meanwhile, five shops con-structed under TSP will behanded over to SocialWelfare Department for out-sourcing. Departments weredirected to complete theseprojects in next threemonths as more than 7-8years have lapsed beyond thetimeline for completion.
