GLOBAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AT BARBARA BUSH ELEMENTARY

Friday, December 4, 2020

Dear Parent(s):

One case of COVID-19 has been identified in connection with the Global Leadership Academy at Barbara Bush Elementary. Upon receiving this information, campus and district staff immediately began to follow GPISD’s pre-planned safety process, including:

● Communicating with anyone who may have been in close contact with a person with COVID-19,● Following recommendations and requirements from Dallas County Public Health, Texas Education Agency,

and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Out of caution and respect for transparency, you are receiving this letter because your child may have been at school at the same time as someone who was potentially capable of transmission. Safety measures were followed, including wearing masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing. Unless a campus administrator or the school nurse specifically talked with you about being a close contact, your child is NOT a close contact of the person with COVID-19.

Public health officials recommend the following guidance / precautions:

● Monitor daily for ANY symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, chills, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, loss of sense of taste or smell, cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing. Intensity of symptoms can vary; some people who contract COVID-19 experience no symptoms or very mild symptoms, while others may become very ill.

If your child develops trouble breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, blue lips or face, severe abdominal pain, new confusion, inability to wake up, or worsening COVID-19 symptoms, seek emergency medical care immediately or call 911.

● If your child has or develops symptoms of COVID-19:○ Continue isolation and contact your medical provider.○ Notify your campus nurse or campus administration.○ Your child may not return to school until cleared by a health care provider or public health

official.

If you have questions, please contact the school nurse, campus administration, or [email protected] .

It takes all of us to stop the spread and keep GPISD staff, students, and families healthy!

Thank you –

GLOBAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AT BARBARA BUSH ELEMENTARY

Gracias,Dina Jammer,
