College of Business Administration
-
The College of Business Administraon (CBA) uses research bases class material, thoughully designed
courses and exemplary faculty to provide one of the highest quality degree programs anywhere. One
reason the CBA is able to reach these high standards is because the College is internaonally accredited
by the Associaon to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This AACSB accreditaon puts the
CBA in an elite group in which only 5% of the world's business schools are a part.
The CBA oers a Master of business Administraon (MBA) in four double majors and also gives the
students the opon to earn an MBA with dual concentraons by combining any two majors. The MBA
program is designed to prepare business leaders and professionals for successful careers in
organizaons as it enhances crical thinking, increases oral and wrien communicaon skills, builds
appreciaon for diverse cultural perspecves, improves decision making in a rapidly changing global
environment and reinforces the applicaon of knowledge and skills in problem solving. Ethics and
corporate social responsibility are woven throughout the curriculum. The program was granted inial
accreditaon in January 2010 by MOHESR-CAA.
The major objecve of UDMBA is to oer high quality graduate business educaon to the residents of
Dubai, UAE and other Middle East and African (MEA) countries. The MBA program oered by UD diers
from exisng MBA programs oered by other instuons in the following ways:
1. The UDMBA has been designed to prepare graduates for successful careers in organizaons. The
program will enhance crical thinking, increase oral and wrien communicaon skills, build
appreciaon for diverse cultural perspecves, improve decision making in a rapidly changing
global environment, and reinforces the applicaon of knowledge and skills in problem solving.
Ethics and corporate social responsibility is woven throughout the curriculum.
2. The instrucon process will be in a cohort format and will include a combinaon of classroom,
virtual business simulaons and contextualized real-world case-based learning to provide value
added hands-on experience and help students use their me eecvely. The online poron of the
learning will be enhanced using MOODLE plaorm.
3. The MBA has four concentraons in order to meet the need for professionals in these areas
especially in Dubai, UAE and other countries in the MEA region. In Addion, the program has been
designed to allow students with any undergraduate degree from an accredited university who
meet admission criteria to be admied to the program.
4. The UDMBA curriculum is of high quality and integrated with emphasis on applied learning,
mapped to professional qualicaons such as USA's SHRM, CFM & CFA Level 1 and the UK's CIPS &
CIM MBA graduates can sit for those examinaons for earning professional cercaon wgicg
adds value to their career.
5. The acon research Project/Work-based project is a unique requirement at the UDCBA which is
tailored to the empirical aspect of learning in the respecve concentraons. This requirement
together with capstone course and a set of 5-6 business simulaons in core and concentraon
courses signicantly add to the praccal and applied learning aspects of MBA in the UAE/MEA
region.
6. Alternavely, starng September 29, 2014 (Term 1, 2014-15), UDMBA students have the opon
of either compleng their Acon Research Project course instead take two addional courses OR
from a designated list of elecve courses.
7. The Classroom sessions are geared to develop crical thinking skills through sets of scenarios and
professors pose the queson Why? at every possible juncture. Or perhaps, What will happen
next? or What dierence does this make? or How does this change the situaon? professors
push students to provide their own speculaons, and then force the students to defend
underlying logic. This is to provide necessary skills in the real world, which require MBA students
to support their asserons.
