Fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1971.His professional ethical standards were beyond reproach, as washis support for his staff. It was not all hard work however. He wasa delightful companion at conferences where he featured at theannual golf tournament with a group of good companions.

Monty and Cecily married in 1939 and were together for 60years. Unable to have children of their own, John (1949) andMerran (1952) were especially chosen to complete their family.After final retirement in 1977 they moved to Mallacoota wherethey had holidayed for 23 years and built a home in 1967. Montyhelped son John with his veterinary practice in Eden, and wasactive in the community. It is a caring community, which enabledthem to stay in their home till the end. Cecily predeceased him bytwo years.
