1.1 INTRODUCTION On 20th January 2015 at 3.45 p.m, 57 students of Environmental Health from UiTM Pulau Pinang, Bertam Campus were accompanied by one lecturer and one supervisor. Mr. Shamsur bin Shamsuri, the Assistant of Environmental Health Officer from PKD Larut, Matang dan Selama gave a briefing about Gravity Feed System (GFS). Mr Shamsur bin Shamsuri and Mr Zabidi bin Mohamad, keeper of GFS were guiding the students to GFS site. The objective of this trip are to expose students about the real situation at GFS and to gain more details or information about the instruments and materials used for the construction of GFS. The GFS at Kampung Klian Gunong was started at 6 Jun 2012. The unit that involved in this project was BAKAS Unit from PKD Larut, Matang dan Selama. The estimated cost for this project was RM 40 000. The total house benefits were 86 houses.

1.2 CONSTRUCTION DETAILS The design periods about this project were 15-20 years. Instruments that have been used during topography survey were GPS, compass and level gauges. The types of materials for pipe work were Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Polyethylene pipes. The diameter of pipes used from source of water to break-pressure tank was 4 inches. From break-pressure tank to consumer houses the diameter of pipes will be decrease from 3, 2, 1 and 1 inches. The construction of GFS must have the break-pressure tank because the function of the break-pressure tank is to endure the high pressure from water source. To ensure the community of the village participate in this project, the PKD convince the villagers that when the project is done it will give a lot of benefits to them such as they do not need to pay a high cost for clean water supply. This project took a month to complete. The agency involved in constructing this GFS project is Unit Bekalan Air dan Kebersihan Alam Sekeliling (BAKAS) from Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Larut, Matang dan Selama with co-operation of villagers. Since 2012, there are 340 villagers were using the water from gravity feed water system in their daily life. As the design period of this gravity feed system is 15-20 years, we can estimate that the population will increase to 500-560 people. There are a few advices that were given to the community when handling over the project. First is they must be cooperative to make sure the GFS functions correctly. Next, the villagers must constitute someone to take the responsibility to take an eyes on the GFS from any leakage and blockage. Last but not least, the villagers were reminded to inform the PKD if any problems happen to the GFS.

The last sanitary carried out at the gravity feed water system in Kg. Klian Gunong was on January 2015 and the outcome is in moderate level.

1.4 CONCLUSIONThe academic trip was ended at 5.45 p.m. and all students with lecturer safely arrived at UiTM Permatang Pauh at 7 p.m. Based on this academic trip, rate of effectiveness and circular coverage in terms of education is 5. The benefits that we learnt from this academic trip are students were being exposed about the real situation at GFS and knew more details about the instruments and materials used for construction of GFS. One of recommendation in this academic trip is extend the time of the trip. Hence, students can learn and understand more information clearly. Some of acknowledgement, a big thanks to our lecturer, Mr. Amir Heberd b. Abdullah, Unit BAKAS, Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Larut, Matang dan Selama and the villagers of Kg Klian Gunong for their willingness to guide us along this academic trip.
