Helping Hands Day matches volunteers with improvement projects for the elderly, disabled and non-profit organizations. On this day, volunteers come together to demonstrate the impact made when you work together.

Organized by volunteers, the Helping Hands Day Committee works with organizations wishing to submit projects as well as recruiting volunteer teams to pick and complete submitted projects. Local sponsors cover the costs of the event, including providing additional funds to cover project costs. When a project requires supplies that the agency or individual cannot afford the team can submit a request to have needed supplies purchased.

Questar employees completed projects for a Rock Springs senior citizen and enjoyed getting to know him.

Painting with a Purpose brought couples, friends, sisters and individuals together for an evening of painting and supporting children in our community.

12 Teams - Complete 37 Projects

Event Sponsored by:

Mandy’s Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Attendees participated in a comedy murder mystery, led by two “detectives”, Caleb George and Pat Kiely, from Mission IMPROVable. Clues generated by the audience helped decide who had the means, motive and opportunity to commit the murder of our esteemed Cowboy Joe. After several suspects were identified and reenactments of possible scenarios were complete a rival mascot was found to be the murder of our beloved mascot.

37th Annual Celebration Event

The Spirit ll and Excellence ll Awards were awarded to Youth Alternative Home

Association. DAndrea Chichester accepted them on their behalf. She is pictured with

Can-Am Commander Give Away!

Page 11 Page 12

Workplace giving is the single largest area of support to the annual United Way campaign. Whether employees choose the payroll deduction, the one-time gift, or the billing option, employees giving through the workplace make up 65 percent of the campaign. To help increase donations, during the 2015 campaign any person who

donated $100 or more was entered to win a Can-Am commander. Donors received one entry for each $100 donation, or six entries for each $500 donation. Persons who pledged at their workplace by using payroll deduction, or by making a direct gift were automatically entered. The Celebration Event concluded

when United Way gave away the Can-Am Commander. Three finalists were previously selected. Lawrence Stephens, Jim Bridger Power Plant, Bryce Hamblin, Tronox, and Todd Lindley, ExxonMobil Production LaBarge Operations each chose a key. Lawrence Stephens’ key started the Can-Am.

Student United WayStudents from Western Wyoming Community College established the first Student United Way in Wyoming, an extension of United Way of Southwest Wyoming, in 2014. Student United Way is a movement of passionate student leaders committed to improving lives and strengthening communities. They focus on education, financial stability and health - the building blocks for a good quality life.

Newly Established

Mustang Market gave Student United Way an opportunity to promote their club with a

Casino Fever theme.

Student United Way donated $70 raised from their healthy food sale (in honor of nutrition month) to the food bank.

The Celebration Event was a great time for Student United Way members to meet some of our donors.

Student United Way completed several Helping Hands Day projects for an elderly couple.
