NSU celebrates the traditional Green and White Weekend with a list of activities featuring athletics, academics and involvement. This four-day event is not only geared for students but for alumni, as well. The baseball and softball teams have games throughout the week, and the traditional Green and White football scrimmage is at 2 p.m., April 5, at the Doc Wadley Stadium.

NSU celebrates the traditional Green and White Weekend with a list of activities featuring athletics, academics and involvement. This four-day event is not only geared for students but for alumni, as well. The weekend begins with the Run for Your Color 5K presented by the NSU women’s soccer team. “Last year’s race was successful, but this year’s race will be even more efficient,” said Chase Wooten, women’s soccer head coach. The race starts at the Sequoyah statue and will take runners through NSU’s Tahlequah campus. At each kilometer, runners will be slashed with a different color. The proceeds from this run support the women’s soccer team. The run will begin at 5:30 p.m., April 3, in front of Seminary Hall. Another scheduled event is Senior FANFair for students anticipating graduating. It is from 4-6 p.m., April 4, at Second Century Square. Barnes and Noble, Future Alumni Network and NSU Alumni Association created this event for students to enjoy entertainment and food, as well as purchase their cap and gown. Students will have the

opportunity to sign the senior class banner and win prizes. Later that night, Senior FANFair is presenting a social mixer with alumni and seniors at 8:30 p.m. at The Branch. To celebrate academic achievement, The Green and White Weekend will feature the 45th annual Honors Assembly and the Ovation Awards. The Honors Assembly starts at 7:30 p.m., April 4, at the UC Herb Rozell Ballroom. This ceremony will honor students with involvement, academic achievement, Honor Society and Who’s Who awards. The Ovation Awards are at 10 a.m., April 5, in the UC Herb Rozell Ballroom. These awards include Outstanding Seniors, Outstanding Freshmen and NSU Hall of Fame recipients. “What I am most excited about Green and White Weekend is to see the start of a fresh football season,” said Cody Graham, Tulsa senior. “Since I am a senior, this will be my last Green and White Weekend as a student. It is a bittersweet feeling.”Athletics play an role in Green and White Weekend. The traditional Green and White football scrimmage is at 2 p.m., April 5, at the Doc Wadley Stadium. NSU baseball is scheduled to play against Nebraska Kearney at 2 p.m., April 4, 1 p.m.,April 5 and noon, April 6, at Rousey Field. NSU softball will play against the University of Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m., April 5, at RiverHawks Park. “I am really excited to experience Green and White weekend for the first time,” said Kelcie Farley, Muskogee freshman. “What I am looking forward to most is the Greek Sing performance.”One of the events to end the Green and White weekend is Greek Sing. Greek Sing is a competition between NSU’s Greek life where sororities and fraternities are paired together to perform a musical assortment. The winning pair will receive the title of Greek Sing champions. Tickets are $5 for NSU students and $10 for adults. All the proceeds will go to a young girl with spiral cord cancer. Greek Sing is at 6 p.m., April 5, at the NSU Center for Performing Arts. For more information, click here.
