Summer equals with heat, having this in mind we decided for this issue had to explore natural disasters that happened during the summer.Located in a Mediterranean island we wanted to focus in the dark side of summer. Focusing on disasters that can only occur during the summer time, like fires and the concept of pyromania in general, as well as locations that can denote summer in more moody and unconventional ways. An abandoned water park or a warehouse are locations that helped us create the mood of this issue accompanied by a recently burned field. We wanted to create a story focusing on pyromaniacs, the narrative is contacted around the locations and the urge of the pyromaniacs to act or stand proud of what they created.

Summer is all about water and hydration, we wanted to use something ‘banal’ like an abandoned water park and to create a contrast with fire and pyromania that is the main theme of the issue. The serenity and calmness of the location merges instantly with the muted colours of our clothing palette. In this editorial we introduce a very talented Cypriot designer, Stavri Frangou. Her collection has everything we like, sharp shapes, a neo-minimalistic aesthetic along with unique patterns and cuts.

A grey field of ashes is the inevitable outcome of a fire. The unconventional beauty of a burned field has an alluring effect that is unexplainable, how can something full of life can be beautiful when its burned. For the male editorial we concentrated on the connection of the pyromaniac and the burned location. The emptiness and satisfaction of what the pyromaniac must have felt like is what inspired us to construct this twisted narrative. The contrast of the transitional piece such as a jacket and how it can actually be utilized to the current season is the main trend we are focusing on.

One of the symptoms of pyromaniac, is the urge to explore and calculate the steps before setting the fire and this is how our story begins. With fast and neurotic movements combined with desire is what interests us. Neutral clothing, metallic fabrics mixed with whites and strong shapes, complements the surroundings.

Incendiarism was the prime focus of our inspiration for the editorials for this issue. The urge of the pyromaniac to return to the crime scene is a unique emotion. The pride and satisfaction from the actual outcome is what we wanted to project through this editorial. Emotions of anxiety, pride and satisfaction is what we want to project from this editorial. The regeneration of the burned gives as a sentiment of hope and purity in contrast with the overall dark emotions you experience once you see the remains of a disastrous fire.

We had the pleasure attenuating the event M&M strikes back organized by the stylist Maria-Ioannou and jewellery designer Maria-Chara Themistokleous. Maria-Irene had hand picked stylistic finds from Paris and Maria-Chara presented her summer jewellery collection. The amazing location in the heart of old Nicosia was suitable for the occasion.

Maria- Chara’s unique aesthetic is what distinguishes her designs. Her attention to detail is what made us obsess with her designs. This season the main inspiration of her collection is tribalism and bones. The deformation and construction of the human body was a theme coupled with her jewellery. We manipulated the body and intensified the bones in order to create something extremely pure and raw and the same time. The purpose of the exaggerating the figures of the body allows the jewellery to illuminate.

Retro-Modernism’s brief explanation is finding something vintage, unique and interesting enough to pass the test of time and remain relevant today. We chose three different piece to illustrate, a vintage chair that is still modern and relevant can be consider as a retro yet modern piece. A diamond shaped bulb that denotes luxury and class in an unexpected form and at last a black glass-vase that has a timeless organic shape with retro references.

Inspired by triangles, George Lash continued working on his obsession by creating complex forms made out of triangles. His new collection features on t-shirts and body-suits with printed triangular shapes.

MOOD SWING
Through this exhibition Anna Apostolou explores mood swings, through her fast drawings denoting the speed of mood swings. Using different pens, pencils and markers she captures the face expressions after a mood swing. Vibrant colours that direct us into conclusions and allow us to understand the personality of the artist and the mood swings she is going through.
