    GRIDTECH

    NEED FOR NEW INITIATIVES

GRIDTECH An international Exhibition and Conference provides an international platform tomanufacturers/suppliers/academicians/consultants to showcase their State-of-the-Art products and technologies in the fieldof Transmission, Distribution, Smart Grid and City, Renewable energy sources integration, Load Despatch & Communication. This biennial international event provides a unique opportunity for the Power Utilities, Manufacturers, Research institutions,Academicians, Consultants etc. to get exposed to emerging technologies in the above fields. The conference providesatmosphere for candid exchange of ideas/experiences with International/National manufacturers, planners, utilities, policymakers, regulators, academicians, experts on new technologies in this field.

Indian power sector has witnessed manifold growth in the past while the road that lies ahead is dotted with many challenges todeliver quality and reliable power at the doorstep of consumers. To achieve high projected GDP growth rate for India, development of all facets of Power Sector is essential. With focus on increasing generation capacity, the correspondinginvestment in the transmission and distribution sector is also be augmented. The Govt. of India plans to strengthen National Gridwith close to 300 GW generating capacity and about 65 GW of inter-regional transfer capacity by 2016-17. Further Planning

Commission projection indicates about five (5) fold increase in peak demand over the next 20 years i.e. to a level of about 500GWfrom the present level of 130GW. Towards sustainability, emphasis has been given to harness renewable energy sources likewind, solar, biomass etc. in large capacity.

Power generation resources both conventional and renewable types in the country are unevenly distributed. Right-of-way issue, increased quantum of inter-state power transfer, environmental concerns etc. calls for development of efficient high capacitytransmission corridors integrated with emerging technologies. Growth of meshed network would bring complexities inmonitoring and operation of grid in terms of change in power flow quantum and direction in the regime of open electricitymarket, wide variation in supply & demand etc. The situation would become further complex with integration of large scaleintermittent and variable renewable capacity. All these poses challenges in terms of grid security, reliability and stability underdifferent operating conditions. In distribution side, AT&C losses has reached to an alarming level. Other aspects like reliability insupply, power quality etc. as well as visualization and situational awareness of energy consumption pattern/price to both utilityand consumers, need for energy conservation etc. also necessitates due attention.

To address above aspects, it is prudent to introduce intelligence in all fronts of power sector viz. generation, transmission and

distribution through real time forecasting, smart metering and monitoring smart appliances, operation and other controlapplications of intelligent smart gr id technologies integrated with communication technologies.

thGRIDTECH 2013 : 4 International Exhibition and Conference

    EXHIBITION

Looking at all the above important issues, POWERGRID with the support of Ministry of Power and in association with CBIP andthIEEMA is bringing its 4 International Exhibition and Conference GRIDTECH 2013 from 3 to 5 April 2012 at ITPO, Pragati

Maidan, New Delhi on new technology in transmission, distribution, smart grid/city, load dispatch & communication. Theexhibition and the concurrent summit will be an excellent global networking opportunity for exhibitors, visitors and delegates. Itwill provide an opportunity for all companies to showcase their Transmission, Distribution, Smart Grid, Load Despatch andCommunication expertise and know-how and to identify business opportunities in the electricity market in India and abroad.Recognising the importance in development of smart grid and city for sustainable development, space provision has been keptfor showcasing real life working of Smart Grid/City covering various functionalities by the exhibitors.

Towards indigenous development of technologies in the above fields and also channelize the development of emergingtechnology by the student community, a separate Students Innovation Pavilion shall be setup to enable student communityand academic institutions in India to demonstrate working model of various technologies in Indian context.

The event shall be attended by the International/National manufacturers, utilities, planners, policy makers, investors, consultants, academicians, research institutions etc. It would also provide an opportunity to the exhibitor to launch newtechnology product, for which a well equipped presentation room shall be made available.

rd thParallel to the GRIDTECH Exhibition, two concurrent conferences for 2 day each have also been planned on 3 and 4 April, 2012focusing on the State-of-the-Art Technologies and emerging trends in the field of T&D, smart grid/city as well as synergic areas

like load dispatch, telecommunication etc. and 1200kV system.

A 3 day International Exhibition on the State-of-the-Arttechnology in Transmission & Distribution, SmartGrid/City and synergic areas like load dispatch, telecommunication, application software etc.developed/being developed by reputed Internationaland National manufacturers shall be showcased to theusers, utilities, policy makers, investors, consultants, academicians etc. for their awareness, appreciation andbenefit of overall power sector. The exhibition shall be

held on 3-5 April 2012 at Hall No. 8,9,10 & 11 ITPO,Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.
