TECHNICAL/
SCIENTIFIC APPROACH
Let us define first what is Technical/Scientific Approach…
Technical/Scientific Approach is….
- a step-by-step approach in designing a curriculum which Tyler formed and modified by Taba
- called technical/scientific approach because it is as if we are experimenting in a laboratory- forming an objective, using a step by step approach in getting the outcome and finally evaluating if the solution is really applicable to real situations
- considered as rational, universal and objective
- Views curriculum as something similar to engineering or architecture
Technical/Scientific Approach
- involves a logical step-by-step procedure of problem solving
There are 7 steps…
First.
- To diagnose the need for improvement
EXPLANATIOOOON/ SAMPLE
It it was to good to know the necessities for us to know the lack that we need to fill.
Second.
- The formulation of objectives
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
Making or forming a objectives helps us to be more motivated in doing a particular activity, because there is something we/you want to know.
Third.
- Specification of content
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
Knowing the content of a certain activity is important because we need to know the reason or objective of the activity.
Forth.
- Organization of content
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
Organizing the content is good for the instructor because he/she can easily command peacefully and organize the activity.
Fifth.
- Selection of learning experiences
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
Sixth.
- Organization of learning experiences
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
Seventh.
- Evaluation and means of evaluation
EXPLAIN/SAMPLE
The procedure is guided by well-defined objectives which are formulated based on the analysis of normative needs as defined by developmental and other psychological theories, rather than individual needs and interests.
This is a way of planning curricula to optimize students’ learning and to allow them to increase their output.
