1. What do countries mostly need to respond to in terms of strategic goals, local governments and society?

• Monitoring and evaluation tools of goals at different levels: (quantifiable and time-bound)– Safe drinking water– Sanitation and hygiene – Water quality– Water-related ecosystems– IWRM– Water efficiency – Y

2. WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR water management institutions TO ADDRESS THESE NEEDS?

• Capacity gap needs to be filled – disparity from urban to rural is huge

3. What are the needs that various water users have which could be answered through new technologies?

• 1st: Identify the type of water userNeed for:- Capacity development to know how to operate technologies- Enabling environment – address social issues within technology - Making new technology ‘sexy’ - incentives- Water resources assessments- Establish a water balance (quantity and quality)- Decision makers need informed decisions for water allocation- Monitoring water resources (quantity and quality)- Disaster preparedness (early warning systems)- Water accountability in terms of fees - Overall transparency: checks and balances at decision-making levels- Database and data allocation and analysis, validation and maintenance

New technologies:- Real time information - Technologies that make impact in individual lives (small-scale farmer fertilizer)- Location-specific data/ tailored information
