A Stocking Full of FunThis contemporary tale of how the naughtiest kids in town got the lead roles in the annual Christmas pageant is quickly becoming a new holiday classic. A total sellout last season, additional hilarious performances have been added for this year’s Yuletide run.
Some Days Are Like ThatThis musical for young people, based on the acclaimed children’s book by Judith Viorst, tells the story of Alexander, a kid who has a day when absolutely nothing goes right. Written with humor and insight, the delightful musical is sure to tickle the funny bone and teach the important lesson that some days are just like that.
Ease on Down, Ease on Down the Road! This imaginative romp through Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz captured 7 Broadway Tony Awards in 1975, became a film with Diana Ross in 1978, and then was largely forgotten. But The Wiz’s clever retelling of the Oz Story and its acclaimed sassy score are too memorable to be forgotten. Rediscover the magic of this legendary Broadway spectacular in Charleston Stage’s newly imagined, multi-cultural production.
Lt. Jack Kennedy, a Danish Blond Bombshell, and the Fate of the Western WorldIn early 1942, Navy Lt. Jack Kennedy and his current fling, Danish blond bombshell (and suspected Nazi spy), Inga Arvad, planned a clandestine getaway in Charleston. Reporters from Life Magazine were soon on the prowl, and FBI agents were listening next door. Based on true events, comic fireworks explode in this highly imaginative, highly speculative, and rollicking World Premiere comedy by Charleston Stage founder, Julian Wiles. More fun than a walk on the Appalachian Trail.

Ebenezer Scrooge has a Bad DreamCharleston Stage’s holiday classic is aglow with all the dazzling trappings of the season: strolling musicians, traditional carols, colorful sets and costumes, and those spirited Spirits of Past, Present and Future. Join Ebenezer Scrooge in his nightmare journey through regret and remorse and awaken with him on Christmas morning.
MAINSTAGE SERIES PIGGLY WIGGLY FAMILY SERIESIf You Can’t Be Famous,Be Infamous! The razzle-dazzle music and dancing of Chicago took Broadway by storm in 1975, and continues to sizzle in productions around the world. The 1997 Broadway revival won 6 Tony Awards, and the 2003 film version won Best Picture. Now, for the first time, Chicago comes to the Dock Street Theatre.
Love at TwilightCount Dracula is back! And this time he’s determined to take over the entire world. Centuries before HBO’s TRUE BLOOD and the TWILIGHT Saga began, the original Prince of Darkness reigned over the shadowy world of the Undead. Rediscover the classic tale that launched a thousand teeth.
A Wacky Walk Down the Street of Life”One of the funniest shows you’re ever likely to see” raved Entertainment Weekly for this off-beat and imaginative musical which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2004. Though it features puppets and live performers, Avenue Q is nowhere near Sesame Street. This funny, furry, adult-only musical tells the tale of normal, everyday people (and monsters) who are seeking to discover their purpose in life as they take a stroll down the street of life. Adult language and themes.
