Dear Applicant,

Welcome to Clapham Manor Primary School and Children’s Centre - we are delighted you are interestedin the position of Headteacher.

Our motto is ‘Growing Brighter Futures’, where we strive to ensure our children are highly skilled and equippedto adapt to change no matter what the future brings. Our childrens’ high achievements in the core subjects aregrounded in an imaginative curriculum that encompasses Natural Thinkers, a Food Lab and a rich art and musicculture, which all invest in the highest level of expertise.

‘Growing Brighter Futures’ was developed with the whole school community. Children, parents, staff andgovernors combined to produce a firm basis for the school’s community based direction.

After 33 years of loyal service our current Headteacher, Brian Hazell, is retiring. His strong and creative Leadershiphas created ‘Growing Brighter Futures’ and the promise that it brings. 33 years ago Clapham Manor Primary, a oneform entry school, had only 98 pupils on roll and was achieving modestly. Through Brian’s dedication, imaginationand loyalty to his community the school has grown to comprise a two form entry school with 482 pupils on roll,a Nursery, two Children’s Centres and two neighbourhood-based settings in former One O’Clock Clubs. All services are judged Outstanding by Ofsted.

We are seeking a new Headteacher who has a sense of the school’s heritage, a spirit of adventure and a safe pairof hands. The successful candidate will inherit a high attaining school and we expect the incoming Headteacherto strive for further improvement and higher attainment. With the support of a broad-based and experiencedGoverning Body, we also expect your strong, creative and shrewd leadership to derive the very best teamperformance from the highly experienced senior leadership team and staff, to manage and protect the school’sfuture through the challenging financial and educational climate ahead.

You will be able to make your mark through the inception and delivery of new projects to add to our centreof excellence. It will be immensely rewarding for the new Headteacher who will be strategic, but not shy of fullyengaging with the day-today life of a lively school.

JudithWilson, our School Improvement Advisor, is available for an informal chat on 07711 250731.

We look forward to your visit, to fully appreciate Clapham Manor Primary School and Children’s Centre.

Yours sincerely,

Nigel Haselden
