Painting Instructions:NOTE: This design uses a lot of washes to achieve the look I wanted. A wash is a mix of 80% water and 20% paint. It is brushed over the area to be covered and then lightly wiped off with a paper towel. This allows the color to seep into the creases and crevices and automatically shades and

in some cases gives an antique look to the areas where used. By wiping with the towel, you remove the color from the high spots which keeps them a light-er shade.

The bases on both fi gures are basecoated with Black Green. Stipple on top of the Black Green with Light Avocado leav-ing some of the darker color showing thru. Then repeat using Hauser Light Green.

The soles of both their shoes are painted Asphaltum. The boy’s shoes are painted Milk Chocolate. Place a wash of Asphaltum over the laces on his shoes. Wipe off lightly so that the color settles down in the creases. Float shade the rest of his shoes with Asphaltum. To highlight his shoes, dry brush with Honey Brown on the toes of the shoes and the centers of the sides. Repeat with Yellow Ochre on the toes of the shoes.. His shoe laces are painted with Honey Brown.

The girl’s shoes are painted Honey Brown. Float shade with Milk Chocolate. Highlight with a very light dry brush of Yellow Ochre. Paint the buttons on the side of her shoes Milk Chocolate.

All the skin on both pieces is painted Flesh Tone. Shade all the skin with a fl oat of Medium Flesh. The lips are painted with Medium Flesh. Lightly blush the cheeks with Shading Flesh. The eyes are painted with Light Buttermilk. Outline the eyes with Medium Flesh and dot the centers with Midnite Blue. Highlight the eyes with a tiny dot of Light Buttermilk.

The girl’s hair is painted Golden Straw. The boy’s hair and both his and her eyebrows are Honey Brown. Apply a wash to the girl’s hair with Honey Brown and wipe off with a paper towel. Repeat using Asphaltum. This will allow the color to settle into the low areas and allow the base color to show thru on the high points. Do the same thing to the boys hair only use a wash of Asphaltum.

The boy’s pants and hat are painted Honey Brown. Float a wash over the pants and his hat with a 2

Float shade the leaves in the fl ower pot with Black Green. Dry brush all the leaves with Hauser Light Green to highlight.

Paint the fl owers with Gooseberry Pink. Float all fl owers us-ing Deep Burgundy and wipe off with paper towel. Dry brush highlights using Flesh Tone. Dot the center of the fl ower on her bandana with Golden Straw.
