History of the Golf Tournament

The Gordon Stafford Scholarship in Architecture is open to minority students, pursuing a career in Architecture and was instituted in 1995 by the Gordon Stafford Family and Stafford King Wiese Architects to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the firm, founded by Gordon Stafford (www.skwaia.com). The inaugural golf tournament was held in 1999 and each year proves to surpass the expectations of its attendees. All proceeds from the golf tournament fund the scholarships. In 2010, the Construction Industry Educational Foundation (CIEF), of the Sacramento Builders’ Exchange became the Gordon Stafford Scholarship’s partner, in raising and distributing scholarship funds. This partnership also extends to the tradition of hosting the Gordon Stafford Golf Tournament. The first CIEF-administered Golf Tourney, on behalf of CIEF educational programs and the Gordon Stafford Scholarship, was held in 2010, making 2013 the 4th Annual CIEF Tournament. Architects, general contractors, consulting engineers, business partners, vendors, friends and family all help to make this tournament a success.
