EXCHANGE PLAN

In the Rotarian year 2009/2010 the Governors of District 2060

and District 5150 decided to join together for the GSE.

From 1st to 29th of April the Italian Team was hosted by District

5150 and from 15th of May to 15th of June the American Team will

be hosted by District 2160.

The Rotary Foundation provides the most economical round-trip

air ticket between the home and host countries.

Local Rotarians in the host area provide for meals, lodging, and

group travel in their district.

GSE IN NUMBERS

Attended 14 Rotary meetings;

Holded 720 minutes of presentation;

Hosted by 8 families;

Visited 13 cities, 7 hi-tech companies;

300 handshakes;

Traveled a lot of kilometers;

Received 40 pins;

Ate 12 burritos, 7 cheesburgers, 2 crab chowder, 3 hot-dogs;

Lived with 5 dogs and 1 cat;

Sung That’s Amore for 6 days.

Followed 1 luteran mass (on Easter);

Said “ya” 100000 times;

Try to learn the Pledge of Allegiance every time;

Received 44 business cards;

Donated 56 USD to End Polio Now RY International Service.

ITALIAN GSE TEAM

PRESENTATION

The Italian Team was coordinate by Alessandro Lolli, a Rotarian

of RY Villafranca di Verona and The Team Leader was Diego

Vianello, Rotary Member of RY Venezia.

The Team Members were 4 people, 3 women and 1 man,

choiced from 20 candidates. 3 of them are also Rotaractors. The

average age of the Team Members is 26. All of them work in

different fields, from economical to humanistical background.

Before leaving the Team Members met each others several times

to participate in orientation sessions and group meetings, to

obtain the necessary documents for traveling.

They also designed by their own the presentation documents

(PowerPoint slide-show, brochure, business cards).

ROTARY CLUBS MEETINGS

The Italian Team had to present, from a turistic point of view, the

District 2010 at the Rotary Clubs in which the Team was invited.

The Team spoke about 40 minutes per Club, telling about the

cities, the monuments, the typical food&beverages, the sport and

activities of the District 2010, that is, the regions of Trentino Alto-

Adige, Friuli Venezia-Giulia and, in particular, Veneto.

The meetings usually took place during lunch at noon, but

sometimes they were breakfasts in the early morning.

The team visited 14 RY Clubs and partecipated to the District

5150 Conference, speaking in front of 1000 people circa.

Typical RY Meeting

1. The meeting usually starts with the Pledge of Allegiance;

2. The RY Members presents their guests. They could be relatives, Members of

other RY Clubs, friends.

3. One Member usually reads funny stories about social life (political, rotarian, ...)

or things that happened in the world.

4. One Member often quotes a sentence either of another important Rotarian or a

famous person.

5. Sometimes the Members give money for the services proportionally to a

beautiful thing that happened to them during the week.

6. They have a marble related with the extraction of the lunch ticket in which they

could win some gifts or money. The money are usually donated for services.

Tips:

• Every Member has its plate, which specifies the name and job.

• The lunch or breakfast are usually simple (but rich) buffet.

• They like to gift and collect pins!
