Learn how to enter profile information, give and receive recommendations and endorsements and connect with others. LinkedIn Lab Strengthen your LinkedIn profile in this hands-on workshop. Social Media & Surfing to Work Discover websites to aid your search, research, & networking. Learn how to use social media like Facebook and Twitter to streamline your work search. MS Word for Job Search Learn how to format a resume and cover letter, as well as essential MS Word skills. Online Applications Gain the skills to navigate any online application system in this hands-on workshop. Computer BASICS Explore how to use computers including learning the mouse, how to open applications, save documents, set up and send email. Note - Computer workshops require the ability to use a mouse for highlighting text OR having taken Computer BASICS.
Get Connected The best way to find work: job searching with a group of other job seekers, group networking, and job search topics weekly to help you find your next job faster! Rotates office weekly, see calendar for details.
Mature Workers Networking Job seeking professionals, 50+ networking group, job search related topics weekly. At Borden street GTHS office every week.
Resume Writing Lab After attending Outstanding Resumes, come for one-on-one help formatting or writing your coverletter or resume. Bring a job posting or select a job target to better edit your resume.
Interview Intensive Interview practice exercises. Video and review your responses. Bring job posting or job description and dress ready to interview.
Informational Interviews Learn how to set up an informational interview, get past the cold call and plan appropriate questions. This is a two-part workshop where participants return to share their successes and restrategize.
Where The Work Is Discussion of current job leads in the Victoria/South Island area. Overview of trends, popular job search sites and how to find opportunities in a confusing and/or hidden job market.

Introduces tools to assist with career change: 7 guidelines for choosing or changing a career, identification of transferable skills, career exploration using Career Cruising & Holland codes, Work BC Labour Market Navigator, training considerations, goal-setting , decision making styles, addressing fears, and informational
Stress, Anxiety, & The Job Search Learn and practise in the moment coping strategies as well as longer-term stress and anxiety management methods in a supportive environment.
Re-Energize Your Job Search Participants learn and develop strategies to avoid and reduce burnout that can go hand in hand with job search.
Returning To Work Preparation, positivity, first impressions, reliability, and learning on the job explored as job maintenance practices, as well as, appropriate socializing, ethical decisions, and maintaining health and hygiene, elements impacting staying employed. Organization & Time Management Assess own daily schedule, and how time is spent on certain types of tasks. Organizational and time management strategies such as prioritizing, reminders, and planning for efficiency and creating SMART goals. Self Awareness Exploration of values, personality style assessments, reflections on personal changes, increased awareness of self. Examining factors that can influence confidence, participants will learn strategies to boost self-esteem.
