A tasty salad bar greeted our staff in the teacher’s lounge on March 29. The healthy salads and delicious deserts were enjoyed by all! Thank you PTO Teacher Appreciation Committee and parents for the wonderful treat.

Kindness Poster Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Kindness Poster Award. The winners are: Owen Tuttle (Kindergarten), Eva Lockwood (1st grade), Lacie Watson (2nd grade), Emma Teodorescu and Michael Alex Teodorescu (3rd grade), Rackel Skinner (4th grade), Reagan Suess, Valentina Tinajero-Lesser, Alexandra Isenbarger and Reese Harris (5th grade) and Kaitlyn Koenig (6th grade). Outstanding designs from all of you!

We would like to thank the Sterling Ridge Village Association for their generous donation of $2000 to our school. Each year, the Association sets aside money from annual fundraising events to provide local schools with grant money. Last year we were able to purchase a 3D printer with these funds and this year we will be purchasing a class set of robots to be used in classrooms to help with math skills. Thank you again Sterling Ridge Village Association.

Fourth Annual Race for Awareness

Our Fourth Annual Race for Awareness will take place on April 13, 2019. This year’s proceeds will benefit Inspiration Ranch in The Woodlands, Texas. Inspiration Ranch is a Premiere Accredited Center through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International. Inspiration Ranch breaks down barriers and celebrates the inclusion of individuals with physical, emotional, and social disabilities. They offer exceptional equine assisted therapy and activities in a loving environment. There is still time to register for the race. The registration form is on the Coulson Tough website.Registration fee is $25.00.

Sometimes people around you will try to keep you from changing. They will want you to continue to do the same things that you have been doing. Like crabs in a pot, they will keep pulling you down if you try to get out. That can make it especially hard to change.

To climb out of the “pot” you are in, you will need to be strong, have a plan, and get some help. The people that help you climb out are your real friends. When crabs are cooked live in a pot, they will try to escape by climbing out. They rarely succeed because the crabs at the bottom often pull those at the top back in.

• If you are in trouble at home, at school, or with friends, you are in the pot.

• To climb out of the pot, you must follow certain steps and not let others pull you down.

• The visual analogies give you the tools you need to stay out of the pot and find

opportunity, freedom, and self-respect.

Life can get so busy this time of year! Between our work, school and extracurricular activity schedules, we start to feel like we are dashing from one place to the next.  As our students get older, there will be times they are left home alone.  Have you talked with your children about what to do in the event of an emergency?  Where do they go?  Who do they call?  What if your cell phone is missing or not working?  It is a good idea to have your child memorize your address and important phone numbers, or at the very least post this information somewhere in your house or provide something they can carry in their backpack.  Students sometimes ask to make a call during the school day - you would be surprised how many of them don't know Mom or Dad's phone number.  We want to make sure all of our Titans have the tools they need to stay safe at school, home and around our community. Quiz your child and see if they know these valuable pieces of information!

GT testing will be held at Bush Elementary on June 4-6 from 8:30-11:00. Nomination forms may be returned to Mrs. Nowlin in front office. ALL NOMINATION forms are due NO LATER THAN April 30!
