National Conference on Ecological Imbalance: A Threat to Flora, Fauna, Economy and Human Survival (EITFES)

Biodiversity or biological diversity refers to the variety of life on

Earth comprising millions of plants, animals, microorganisms and

the genes they contain. It simply means the existence of a wide

variety of plant and animal species in their natural environments.

The biodiversity is usually described at three levels namely genetic,

species and ecosystem and all these three work together to create the

unique path for life on the Earth.

Ecological balance is 'a state of dynamic equilibrium within a

community of organisms in which genetic, species and ecosystem

diversity remains relatively stable'. When a natural or human-caused

disturbance disrupts the natural balance of an ecosystem then

ecological imbalance is caused. In other words, ecological balance is

a stable state between all plants (flora) and animals (fauna) in an

ecosystem and destabilization of this stable state is ecological

imbalance.

Anthropogenic activities such as demographic increase, huge and

indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources, urbanization,

widespread industrialization, deforestation, global warming,

improper disposal of waste products, unsustainable development etc

are mainly responsible for the disturbance to the ecological balance

of the environment.

Today, the world is a 'global village' but the chasm between developed

and developing nations are widening due to widespread

industrialization in every corner of the world. Industrialization,

which plays a major role in the development of a nation, is also one of

the root-cause of ecological imbalance. Both the urbanization and

industrialization are gradually reducing the agricultural lands. As a

consequence, agricultural productivity is decreasing that eventually

is creating a serious threat both to food security and world economy.

The ecological imbalance badly affects the entire biota which in turn

disturbs the healthy environment on the earth resulting which the

state of global economy as well as human survival becomes more

complex and threatened. The ecological balance must be maintained

at optimal level otherwise many species may be wiped out and others

may suffer irreparable damages which will create a severe threat to

the survival of creations of our super natural power and a serious

challenge to global economy.

Utmost efforts of people in each and every corner of society is

required to save our environment from this global threat, so that this

wonderful creature of the almighty GOD is maintained as it was

granted to us, to enable us to live and survive sustainably in complete

harmony with nature without inviting any severe natural

catastrophe. In this relation the weltanschauung i.e. the world view,

should be eco-friendly and welfare oriented, instead of widespread

industrialization for which each and every one of us should think

globally but act locally to save our environment at any cost.

The aim of this conference is to invite resource persons; those who have done excellent work in the specified field, to open up new vistas of research and also to generate innovative and inclusive ideas for the welfare of human beings to create potential researchers and research
