This company was incorporated on 7" octomber 1986 in the state of gujrat as a
public limited company. The certificate of commencement of business business
was otained from the registered of companies. MIS promoted Gujrat on 1 lth
novenber 1986.G.A.E.L. apollo earthmovers pvt. Ltd. love to the apollo group
of gujrat in association with gujrat industrial investment corporation ltd. (GIIC),
a state' level fmancial institution. The apollo group of companies, of which
gujrat apollo equipment limited is the flagship, is Indian No.1 manufacturer of
road construction &maintenance equipment.
From a modest beginning in the year 1972, the group today offers almost the
entire range of equipment that lends them admirably to the road building
industry. Gujrat apollo is a Bombay stock exchange listed company. The group
has four modem manufacturing facilities. The construction division of the
company commenced operations in April 1995. Prior to information of this
division, the construction activities where carried out through other group
companies.

industrial investment corporation (GIIC) to set up gujrat apollo equipment
limited (G.A.E.L) the company started manufacturing drum type asphalt plant
and hydrostatic sensor paver finisher under a technical collobration
arrangement with barber greene, USA. In July 1992 GIIC divested its entire
11% holding to apollo earthmovers private limited at a negotiated price of
rs.18.69 per sharegujrat apollo equipment limited' entered the capital market in

the manufacturer of road construction and maintenance equipment, it has three
manufacturing plan in USA and affiliates in England, Canada, brazil and
natherlands, as per the agreement with GIIC and approved by the govt, of
India, M/s.barer greene has provided drawing of all part components, dies.
Jigs, fixtures and tools, materials list, specification and operation sheet,
catalogues, engineering standards, instruction manual and other relevant
document.over and above company's three personnel were trained and the
collaborators plant in U.S.A. for a period of month.
The company has developed indigenously the cold miming machin with the
Internet technical strength and development capability the company shall be
developing the proposed product on its own.

To deliver quality equipment to its customer apollo has licenced agreement
and join ventures with many foreign companies, for its drum mix plant and
hydrolic paler finisher apollo has technical collaboration with BARBER
GREENE Co.of USA (now part of caterpillar) for bitumen sprayer. Apollo
has a technical collaboration with MAX PIETSCH KG GMBH & CO of
Germany.
For higher capacity (more then 160 tph) asphalt batch mix JV with ERMONT,
of France. For front-end loader technical collaboration with ATLAS-
WEYHEUSAN ofgermany.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The company is not having an independent reseach and development unit
registred with the government of India. However, product development
activites continue to get at most priority in the field of process technology,
improvement in quality, import substitution etc through the quality-assuring
department.

RAW MATERIAL
The main raw material required for the product rang is mild steel sheets, steel
bars, steel roal and steel pipes; the requisite steel is available from SAIL'S
stock yark ofahmedabd. At he present level of operation about 1160 tones of
mild steel was consumed. After the proposed expantion the company of
optimum capacity utilization would require 2070 tones mild steel.
The bought out company includes diesel engine, hydraulic boxes, conveyor
beltweighters, switches, sprocket, tyers, conveyor, chains and reduction gear
bearings.'These are available indigenously and can be sourced from reputed
manufacturer like Larsen & turbo, ashok layland, Dunlop, SKF bearing FAG
bearing fenner &other.
The critical iteams like hydraulic motor, valves and pumps; grade and slope
controllers asphaltmetering pump are imported frome USA. The company has
been able to indigenes some of these components thus saving foreign
exchange, the process of indigenization is an on going on and will be fully
completed in a sort time, the extent of indigenization would depend on
domestic manufacturer ability to produce them. The company has already
submitted drawing to reputed many manufacturer viz. L&T, dynamic,

hydralics yuken and other to develop these components. The consunpation of
imported raw material is 45% of the total consumption raw. Material. The
company has not entered into a long-term arrangement for the procurement of
its raw material and prorosed to buy from the open market.

The company product mix includes paver, finisher, and dram mix plant
bitumen sprayer and road maker. All these products fall under the category of
capital goods involve investing large funds.

Gujarat Apollo equipment ltd. Manufacture road construction and
mainteinance equp. For all the products, there is not fix process but process is
job type. General manufacturing process involves following stages.
1. Fabrications where sheets and plates are stralghtened, cut, bend and welded.
In the fabrication shop, cutting and welding of sheet metal and sub assembly
of components is undertaken. The facilities in this shop mainly comprise
guillotine shearing machine and press brake with hydraulic drive, punching,
shearing and cropping machine, plate straightening machine, semi automatic
machine, submerge are welding machine, welding machine welding
positioners and other allied, equipment.
2. Machining where bars, structural and casting would be cut, turned, milled,
saped, slotted & drilled
Machine shope has general-purpose machine tools like lathes, horizontal
boring machines, universal milling machine, racial drilling machined,
shopping machine and planning machine. The components required for the
various products are being manufactured on the basis of design and
drawing supplied by M/S barber Greene Company.

3. Tool room
Tool room is equipped with surface grinder; vertical milling machine and
other allied'equipment and is supplementary to machine shop.
4.Assembly & testing
The sub-assembled components are assembled in this shop to from final
product. The basic facilities comprise a paint shop and production testing
'equipment. There after the machines are tested, dismantled, packed and
shipped to customer. The patronage given by customer to the apollo
equipment is phenomenal and the apollo’s equipment population in the
country indicates that.

Provident fund scheme is an important scheme and the benefits of it
employees get after the retirement. Almost all the organizations have this
scheme. It is the fund in which both employee and employer contribute.
Ditasan is spending more contribution in P. F. this joined amount is deposited.
This amount is depostited. This amount is gathered during service years and
after retirement. It is given to concerned employee. If an employee dies in
between services years, amount is given to employee’s relatives.
TIME KEEPING SYSTEM
Gujarat Apollo Industry ltd. has a seprate time office. For keeping the
employees absentism record, system is operated by time office. Here punching
card system has been developed. Every employee is given a punching card
while entering in plant that card is to be punched & at the time of leaving the
same should be punched when the. Cardpunch, the number is record in
computer ensuring employees presence in the organization. Plant works for 8
hours, single shift from 8.30am to 5.00 p.m. there is break for lunch of lhrs.
From 12.00 to 1.00 employees also are given overtime when there is high
burden of work. There are weekly holidy on Wednesday.
