Awards Regulations Introduction The Awards Scheme is used to develop Members’ interest in worthwhile activities and at the same time develop their all-round personality. It gives the Company the opportunity of presenting an attractive and progressive programme of activities order so that membership of the Brigade may be both enjoyable and beneficial. The scheme is part of the total programme that the Brigade offers Members from their earliest days of membership until their completion service. It is recognized that Members are looking for an exciting and challenging programme and the Awards Scheme is designed to assist the officer in making this possible. All Senior Section officers must ensure every member adheres to the following rules and regulations. The aim is to ensure that achievement levels for all members are uniformed. Failing to do so would allow for abuses in the standard of BB and thus, making the achievement scheme either too easy or too difficult to attain. 1. Member’s Age

In the event of uncertainty, Company Captain may contact the Brigade Awards Chairman for verification.

(b) Members who fail a certain award must complete or re-sit for

that particular award/level in the same year.

BAND PROFICIENCY “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth’s, make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and cornets, make a joyful noise before the Lord, the king.” The aim is to encourage formation of a band among BB companies; be it a full military band, concert band, bugle/pipes/brass band or even a small ensemble. Members should be awarded this badge on the grounds that they have been active in the band, have excellent attendance at both practices and performance as well as having shown improvement in whatever instrument one’s plays. It must be remembered that a band is also formed to enhance team work within

the Company and that every Member plays his/her part to ensure the success of the band. Thus, band award tests should be taken as a whole group rather than individually where a one’s performance as a team should be considered for assessment. Members may attain more than one band award in a year. However, they are not allowed to sit for two stages of the same award in one year.
