Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Marcy Smith
If you serve on a standing committee, please make your plans to attend the Annual Committee Workshop. The workshop will be Sunday, January 18 from 3:30-5:00. We will begin by meeting all together, then the individual committees will meet to begin working on ministry projects for 2015. Each year this meeting proves to be a valuable time as we kick off a new year of ministry. Harmony Science Academy is in need of volunteers to come and read with students for about 30 minutes, one day per week. Some children do not have the opportunity to read at home, and this causes them to fall behind in gaining fluency in reading. The simple act of sitting and listening to a child read for just 30 minutes will make a big difference. There are no special skills required, just a love of children and a willingness to help. If you would like to help, please give me a call. I would like to thank everyone who came to hear our Children’s Choir present “The Christmas Cross.” It means so much to our children and their families to have a good crowd in attendance. I know you were blessed by this special evening of wor-ship. We plan to provide a DVD of the performance to each family of children who participated. Did you know you can view Pastor Bruce’s sermons on our website? Visit us at www.whbcwaco.org, then select the RE-SOURCES page and click on the Sermons tab. You will find a copy of the Vision, upcoming events, and so much more on our website. Take a look! Please look at the dates below, as our schedule has been adjusted for the Christmas Season. Merry Christmas and Happy New year! Upcoming: Wednesday, December 24 – Christmas Eve Service at 6:00PM, everyone is invited Sunday, December 28 – Bible Study and Worship in the morning, NO EVENING ACTIVITIES Wednesday, December 31 – NO EVENING ACTIVITIES Sunday, January 4—Bible Study and Worship in the morning, NO EVENING ACTIVITIES Wednesday, January 7—Wednesday night activities resume Sunday, January 11 – Sunday night activities resume Sunday, January 18 - Annual Committee Workshop, 3:30-5:00
I am thankful for Evan’s ministry these past three years. He, Erin and Lukas will certainly be missed. I am also thankful for all the volunteers who will help lead the youth ministry during this time of transition. We will continue to meet as usual with the help of these faithful volunteers. If you are a youth parent, I invite you to come to the Youth Parent Meeting on Sunday, January 11 at 4:30 in the Garden Room. At this meeting we will discuss our plans to facilitate each of the youth ministry activities, and discuss plans for Disciple Now and Youth Camp. I would really appreciate your input as we make decisions regarding these upcoming events. We also need hosts for upcoming Time Outs. Time Out generally occurs on the second Sunday of each month, from 6:30-8:30. A host provides his/her home and a meal for the students, and the youth ministry volunteers will bring the students and provide activities. Upcoming dates are: January 11, March 8 and April 12. If you would be interested in hosting Time Out this semester, please give me a call in the office. Please continue to pray for our students and their families during this time of transition. Pray that God will provide our new youth minister in His perfect timing. Marcy

will resume on Wednesday evening, January 7th, at 7:30 PM in the Choir room. I hope that everyone who has a gift for being a part of the choir will be certain to choose to offer their voices back to God in praise through our church choir. We have a blessed time as we prepare and lead in worship each week. Your participation is needed. There is also room for those who need to be seated while they participate in the choir. Please don’t let your inability to stand keep you from using your gift. If you can sing, but just need to be seated as you offer your praise, there is a seated spot in the choir loft for you and others. Come and join us this year!
