PARTNER PARISHES STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE Sunday Offertory: July 11-12

St. Ambrose St. Matthew St. Sylvester

Offertory Collection: $ 1,843.00 $ 1,381.00 $ 1,550.00

SCRIPTURE INSIGHTS FOR THE SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME No doubt you've heard the expression "You can't take it with you." It means that we leave this world the way we came into it-without even the clothes on our backs. But the truth is that there are some things you can take with you into eternal life. They're just not material things. And that's what Jesus is talking about in the treasure parables. Real treasure is that which has eternal value-it's what you can take with you.

One way to think about this is in terms of relationships. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, Saint Paul says that there are three things that last: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest is love. Love is the greatest because it's the only one of the three that is eternal. Faith will give way to sight, hope will give way to joy, but love is forever. We will carry our relationships with God and with our loved ones into the Kingdom with us.

So how do you "buy" the treasure of love (Matthew 6:20 - 21)? The currency that buys eternal treasure is time. So the way that we invest in the Kingdom is to spend quality time with the people we hope to be with in heaven - starting with God. Quality time with God means going to Mass regularly and spending time in person-al prayer and devotions. We also need to spend quality time with those with whom we are in significant rela-tionships: spouse, children, parents, loved ones. Of course to do this might require a sacrifice of other things that take up our time - but that's the point of the parable. We have to give something to buy something great-er. We trade the earthly treasures for the heavenly treasures. We give up what we can't take with us to gain what we can take with us.

THE RITES OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

This Sunday, Steven Pistininzi and Brandon Veneziani will be fully initiated into the Catholic Faith through the Sacraments of Initiation. Steven will be baptized and both of them will be Confirmed and receive their First Holy Communion. We are very excited to celebrate this day with you! Congratulations Stevie and Brandon!

CONFIRMATION A Confirmation Sacramental Prep class has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 21st at St. Matthew’s Social Hall. Between the 3 parishes, we have 13 students preparing to be Confirmed. There are 2 Confirmation ceremonies scheduled for Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 18th. Once the families choose which date is best for them, we will let you know. Please pray for them as the prepare!

We are planning to have a SUMMER TAKE OUT ONLY PIEROGIE AND FISH DINNER on Friday, July 31st from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at St. Matthew Hall. That Friday you can begin calling in your take out orders starting at NOON! Please let friends and family know to help make this a big success! Small Fried Fish Dinner— $8.00 choice of sides.

IN SYMPATHY: Our Partner Parish family extends their deepest sympathy to the families of Lucille McWilliams, Ron Peretti and Harol Urban, who died recently. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

PARISH INCOME Please be aware that the incomes of all three parishes has decreased in the last two fiscal years and the ordinary income has not been enough to pay our ordinary bills. The parishes did well this Spring, in light of the pandemic and the quarantine, but all 3 would be in debt if it were not for the Payroll Protection Loans that we got from the government. We need every parish family or household to support the parish. Even $2 - $5 from people who have been giving nothing would make a difference. Your parishes need each of you to support them as you can. THANKS
