School Director’s Message
Dear parents and children,
Welcome back to the last half of Term One!
• This half term will fly by very quickly as it’s brimming with events
and starts off in such a special way with the Loy Kratong celebration.
Our Wednesday’s assembly will provide children with an interactive
explanation of the festival, and on Friday, children are welcome to
dress in Thai costume if they have it and join us in a day of activities
based around the ever important need to be kind to nature, be grateful
for the water we have and the trees, flowers and plants around us and
make an internal promise to be the best people; both young and old;
that we can be!
• As we approach the end of the first term, it is time to take stock of
progress made across all our learning areas. Teachers will write
progress and school reports for each child and our new topics of study
are now underway. In Kindergarten, students are studying Dinosaurs,
in Nursery, the topic of study is Colours and Shapes Make My World
and the Little Clouds will be learning about themselves and their
families and homes with This is Me!
• This month we warmly welcome Ms Kerrin from America and Khun
Poupee to our permanent teaching team. Ms Kerrin will take our 3 year
old pupils in the Kindergarten class and Khun Poupee will be teaching
our children Thai twice a week. Khun Poupee’s son Ben will also join
our newly formed Kindergarten class. On behalf of everyone at Bright
Skies, we wish our new members a happy, productive time at Bright
Skies.
Around school, I hear and see more and more confident children happy
to try their ever-growing vocabulary and who have made some lovely
bonds with others and with all the staff at school. It does feel like a
home away from home!
• BAMBI hosted playgroup for children every Thursday 9.30-11.30am
• New – Kindergarten class for 3-4
year olds
• Please keep the air as unpolluted as
we can for our children.
Parents are kindly requested to
turn off their car engines while
parked in front of our school.

Happy Loy Kratong Festival!
As always let’s have fun this month and learn wonderful things at the same time.
Let’s also continue the example and legacy of the late King Rama 9 and be as kind as we can to
the people, plants and animals around us, work hard and practise surmounting small challenges so
that we can one day surmount bigger challenges with confidence.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Shayne School Director

We asked our caring cook Khun Nui what snack the children prefer the most at school…
Can you guess what it is?
Yes! …. It’s sweet corn!

Little Clouds Class
Welcome back to school, Little Clouds!
I hope you all had a lovely break and we are happy you are back at school this week.
Happy Loy Krathong Festival!
It has been great to see the progress made by the Little Clouds class during the first part of the
term. We know the classroom routines well now and we’re learning to listen and follow directions.
We really are so proud of how far we’ve come and the breakthroughs we’ve had at school.
Before the holiday the children enjoyed learning to count farm animals with Spot the Dog in our
last book of the Tell Me A Story topic. Spot became a familiar face to us and we loved going on
adventures in class with him every day. We learned to identify common farm animals and also
count them. It was fun singing songs like Old Macdonald had a Farm, Five Little Ducks and One,
Two, Three, Four, Five. A favourite during Circle Time was the Five Little Ducks song with all of
the Little Clouds enthusiastically quacking with the mummy duck to call her ducklings home!
We’re looking forward to diving into our next topic where we’ll be learning all about Amazing Me.
There is so much to discover about ourselves and what makes us unique and I am sure we will
have lots of fun exploring this together! We will continue learning social skills like sharing and
being kind to others through playtime and focused Circle Times too. This month you can also look
forward to a school report giving an update on your child’s progress during their first term at Bright
Skies.
Keep up the wonderful work everyone!
Miss Susan
Nursery Class
Dear Nursery parents and families,
Happy Loy Krathong!
I hope you all had a nice and relaxing holiday!
We have now all settled nicely into school and the rules
and routines! It is great to begin to see the children’s
personalities coming through as I get to know your
children better and better! As always, I look forward to
continued progress and breakthroughs with our learning
and social skills.
We have just completed our first topic of the school year: Amazing Me! Thank you all for sending in a
photo of your families for our wall. The students loved the opportunity to stand up and introduce us to
their families! We have explored ALL about our bodies, senses, families, houses, and neighbourhoods.
To evaluate progress in this study theme, your child completed a one-on-one assessment with me,
assessing the knowledge, skills and vocabulary they have acquired to date. This piece of work has
now been added to the Portfolio folders we have created for each child.
After our Loy Kratong celebrations we will embark on the next topic of study Colours and Shapes!,
which we are sure your children will enjoy.
Well done so far everyone. Keep up the good work!
Best,
Miss April

Mandarin
Da jia hao!
Welcome back!
Mandarin classes are progressing nicely. We are hearing our
students using their new vocabulary more and more and in
louder, more confident voices and this makes us happy! The
highlight of last month’s events was our Mid- Autumn celebration. Chen Chen’s mummy very kindly
helped the teachers perform the story of this interesting festival to our students in a Wednesday whole
school assembly and we made lanterns and ate a lucky dumpling treat to mark the occasion.
The assessment task for the This is Me topic of study has now been completed. Among other items
tested in the task was vocabulary related to our body parts, our five senses, things we can do, our
families, our homes and our neighbourhoods.
We have also practised saying how old we are in Chinese and we also know some of the words in the
Happy Birthday song in Mandarin as well as a finger rhyme about families.
Colours and Shapes Make My World is our new topic of study in Chinese and we will make sure it is
challenging and enjoyable. Several of our students already know how to say circle in Chinese so that’s
a good start!
