Members All,
Many thanks to all who attended and participated in our annual In-stallation of Offi cers and Awards Ceremony. The night was perfect, the food was great, and the event would not have been possible with-out the assistance of our wonderful volunteers: Cathy Hickey; Marie Houle; Lizz Queen; Mike Rankin; Derek Hill, PER; Elaine Schutte, PER; Dwayne Rossi; Sue Holloway; Sandy O’Rourke, and Gerri Madden. Thank you also to our installing offi cers: Mike Chandler, PDDGER; Joe Deckelman, PDDGER; Jack Barger, PER; John Greene, PER; Elaine Schutte, PER; Patricia Gehring, PER; Mark Madden, PER; John Andrews, PER; Maria DeArmon, PER; Jackie Andrews, PER; and Donna Moyer, PER of Zephyrhills Elks Lodge.
Thank you to the membership for attending the event and supporting our new offi cers!
This year, we combined our installation of offi cers with our annual awards and recognition cer-emony to honor those who worked so hard to make our past Lodge year a success. With great pleasure and sincere congratulations, I have named Dwayne A. Rossi as our Elk of the Year and Gerri M. Madden, a Lodge Trustee, as our Offi cer of the Year. Dwayne worked diligently throughout the 2015-2016 Lodge year, as an invaluable volunteer cook in the Lodge kitchen, Co-Chairman of the Hoop Shoot competition, and a dedicated member of the House Commit-tee. He also assists with the Lodge’s monthly All-You-Can-Eat breakfast. Congratulations, Dwayne. You are a most deserving Elk of the Year recipient. Our Offi cer of the Year, Gerri, capably guided many of the business decisions that the Lodge faced throughout the year as the Chairman of the Lodge’s Board of Directors. Through her astute efforts, the Lodge saved thousands of dollars in unnecessary expenditures. Gerri continues on as a Lodge Trustee this year. Thank you, Gerri, for all you have done and continue to do.
Additionally, I have also named John Georgiodiou, of Support Our Troops, Inc., Citizen of the Year. Certifi cates of Recognition were also awarded to Pat Hubert; Elaine Schutte, PER; Mike & Trish Rankin; Derek Hill, PER; Sue Holloway; Patricia Gehring, PER; and John Nuccetelli for their outstanding efforts in assisting the Lodge during the 2015-2016 Lodge year. We have a busy month ahead of us with several great activities and events planned. Please come out and support the Lodge at these functions. There are still several committee and vol-unteer positions that remain unfi lled, so if you care to take on a greater role in your Lodge, now is a great time to do so! Please contact me if you would be willing to assist us in any capacity.
A special thank you to my brother, “Todd” Barger, who made extensive repairs to our kitchen refrigerator unit after removing and transporting it to his Jacksonville facility at no cost to the Lodge; Mike Rankin for repairing our projector in the Lounge; and John & Jackie Andrews for their donation of a printer/copier. Thank you also to those members who made donations to the Lodge in memory of Dan Rossi: Rose Bullock, Dean Ward, Rosie Bahr, Carolyn Williams, Billie Owens, Larry & Laura Phillips, Mike Stickney, Pat Hubert, and Ruth Fuss.
This month, I am pleased to name Mike DeArmon as our Elk of the Month for April. Mike works diligently helping in and about our kitchen, especially tackling the thankless task of dishwasher, to ensure that we always have sparkling clean dishes and utensils. Mike is always willing to assist when called upon. Thank you, Mike, for all you do.
Sincerely, and fraternally,
Erika BargerExalted Ruler

HOUSE COMMITTEE REPORTMembers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers who helped to make the month of March a success. It seems that the same volunteers stayed around for April, but these volunteers could use a break, at times, so if you are available, please let me know. The Installation was a great time. For those who missed it, please save the date for next year. We are planning several events in addition to our regular dinners this May, including our annual Mother’s Day service, and a Memorial day get-together. We are also going to have a themed lunch for Cinco de Mayo, which we hope to extend through “Happy Hour” and our Lodge meeting that night. Please make plans to attend both the festivities and the meeting.
Don’t forget our “Saturday Sandwich Special” every Saturday through the month of May, beginning at 4:30pm. This month, we will feature sausage & peppers, corned beef on rye, and porchetta. Check your calendar for more menu details.
We have forms available located in the Lounge near the pool table for anyone who volunteers, be it at the Elks or somewhere else in the community (i.e. church, food bank, library, veterans, etc.). We would like to have you complete these forms so we can credit these hours to our tax exempt status, and they will be a plus for us when we publicize all of the good works that we do. There is no paperwork on your end other than informing us of your projects and hours. Forms can be returned to the Secretary.
Sincerely,
Mike Stickney, Co-ChairmanHouse Committee
