HAWK: RFID Solution For Yard
Management
Yard management and planning were initially done in excel, which took several hours, so there was an urgent need for a
smart system.
We analysed all the current alternatives and best practices of our competitors, and we finalised on an RFiD-based yard management solution. all the variants and benefits from the vendors were studied in detail. We opted for a product that offered a planning module and three-dimensional container location status, which was customised as per our requirements.
We targeted to reduce the move count from 7.1 to 6 with effective utilisation of this RFiD-based solution.
haWk: cOntaineR LOcatiOn aLLOcatiOnas a key step towards efficient operations, we have opted for the 3D planning module of the haWk system.
the first of its kind, it relies on artificial intelligence to identify the best vacant slot in a yard for any new incoming container at the in gate.
Location allocation is dynamic based on an intelligent algorithm. the real-time analysis is done on lot size and the past history of the delivery pattern for a customer and cargo. it allots the best slot for a newly
arriving container or lot.
With this highly efficient tool, we have reduced unproductive container moves. now lots are stacked together making custom examinations easy for clients and customs officers.
For the deliveries of many clients, we now allocate a dedicated machine, which reduces the delivery time for them.

• increases productivity and operational efficiency of the cFS by reducing the gate-out process turnaround time for a container by eliminating the need to search for the container.
• Faster gate-in and gate-out processes lead to faster movements of containers in and out, adding to the capacities of the cFS / icD yard resulting in increased revenues.

• Facilitates easy and quick identification of the location of a container, thus reducing operational headaches.
• Reduces truck congestion around the cFS.
• helps chas and customs officers in locating a container quickly, thus boosting the confidence of chas, end customers and customs officers in the cFS.
• provides information on empty and as well as on inefficient use of slots thus helping with planning.
• end customers can log in to the system to check container availability, thus reducing the number of phone calls from chas to the cFS operators, resulting in better utilisation of assets and personnel.
• tagging of trucks will commence shortly. this will link a trailer with a container on entry, and an operating machine will be allotted tasks to handle the linked trucks
