The Kaua‘i County General Plan is the top-level policy document that guides how we grow responsibly. A public process develops a shared vision and goals for the future. The last General Plan Update was completed in 2000, and much has changed! How do we address these changes and move forward?

The workshops will consider the form and character of Kaua‘i, and how they might change in the future. Participants will consider what “degree of change” is desired or expected for each community, and discuss ways in which places can preserve, evolve, or transform in the next 20 years.

During the tours, you can help by sharing observations and visioning. You can record ideas and annotate maps to help guide the planning work. During closing presentations, you can provide feedback on preliminary plan ideas, and continue the dialogue to help shape the General Plan.

What are the essential characteristics of Wailua, Kapa’a, and Anahola? How can the “best” of these distinctive communities be reinforced, and how can they be strengthened to meet their potential? How can my community move into the future as a vibrant and walkable place to live?

What is the General Plan?

What are the goals of the workshop?

How can I help during the workshop?
