Community ImpactWe are delighted to share the good news about Jesus here, near and far. Our work beyond our walls and into our local neighborhoods, cities and counties is called Community Impact. Here are some 2019 highlights from across our church campuses:

H E R EH E R E

NIGHT TO SHINEThe Compass was one of 650 churches worldwide chosen to host the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine, a spectacular prom night for teens and adults from our community with special needs. On February 8, leaders from all our campuses teamed up with 300 volunteers to show 60 honored guests the love of God by giving them the royal treatment. The Compass Church has been chosen as a host site again for February 7, 2020.

KIDS HOPE USAOur Bolingbrook, Hobson and Wheaton Campuses continue to cultivate strong relationships with four local elementary schools (BJ Ward, Henry Puffer, Lowell and Scott) through our partnership with Kids Hope USA, an organization that facilitates mentoring relationships between churches and schools. Our 24 mentors across four schools meet one-on-one weekly with at-risk students, building life-giving relationships through a variety of enriching activities.

FOOD PANTRYThe Compass Church Food Pantry at our Bolingbrook Campus partners with local faith-based, non-profit Loaves & Fishes to serve the community. It supplies practical needs for 30-60 families each week at our campus with a team that ministers and cares for guests. We receive regular feedback from our guests about the dignity and quality of our pantry experience. Also, we now have a new community garden that supplies fresh produce for our guests.

SUMMER NIGHTSOver an eight-week period this summer at our Bolingbrook Campus we welcomed about 50 people each week from the community for a time of food, games and various fun community activities. Guests had a great time connecting with the large group Bible study at the end of each evening.

REBUILDING TOGETHER AURORAIn collaboration with local non-profit Rebuilding Together Aurora, in April, over 60 volunteers from The Compass Church transformed three homes of under-resourced families in Aurora’s First Ward, and provided upgrades to Rollins Elementary School in Aurora. Over two days, teams worked together to scrape, paint, repair, rebuild, dig, fix and refurbish these properties and love on these neighbors in east Aurora.

FAMILIES FACING HOMELESSNESSDozens of teams from our Hobson Campus make and serve dinner two times monthly for the 50-70 family members staying at Hesed House, a homeless shelter in central Aurora. We’ve also hosted a handful of project days this year, which included landscaping, gardening, painting, cleaning and organizing.

GIFTMARTIn partnership with non-profit Giftmart, a re-imagined holiday shop, over 100 volunteers from our Hobson Campus teamed up to provide an opportunity for 84 under-resourced families at Ellsworth, Naper and Scott Elementary Schools in Naperville to buy toys for their children in a dignified manner. All money raised was donated to the participating schools.

DUPAGE CARE CENTERAt Christmastime, our Wheaton Campus hosted a giving tree to provide gifts for over 50 residents at the DuPage Care Center, a treatment and rehab center for the chronically ill. Those gifts were lovingly distributed by members of our church.

NAOMI’S HOUSEA team from our Wheaton Campus worked together to clean up, do yardwork and plant donated trees at Naomi’s House, a residential community for women rescued from sexual exploitation.
