Dear Music Lovers and GENUIN Friends,
The year 2013 is a very special one for us: We are celebrating our 10th anniversary as a classical music label!
Some of you are certainly asking yourselves: “Only 10 years?” – especially considering the more than 250 CDs we have issued. That we have managed to do this despite the continuing general crisis on the CD market is very pleasing, and we must admit that we are also a little proud of the fact.
When we started our label in 2003 one of the musicians who “was there from the first moment” he could already look back on one of the longest performance careers. And that this legendary genius still numbers among our yearly high- lights is a genuine miracle for us – as much then as today: Paul Badura-Skoda will issue CDs again this year too, this time presenting two brand new Schubert discs recorded in December 2011.
Incidentally, we deliberately chose the greeting “GENUIN Friends” to begin this letter: A year ago we launched our Facebook page on the Web and have been pleased by the ever-growing number of digital friends. There you can get the latest news about exciting projects and interesting new CDs, often accompanied by photos or short videos.
Despite all the virtual progress, as music enthusiasts we are sensual beings and remain true to our very real and “analogue” catalogue with its appealing appearance and touch-and- feel. As usual, on the following pages we offer you our musical treasures: once again you will find new and old, the familiar and as yet unheard, traditional works as well as true discoveries!
We wish you continued joy in classical music.
Your GENUIN Team

Weiterhin viel Freude an klassischer Musik wünscht Ihnen
Ihr GENUIN Team

It soon becomes evident to any listener that he loves music with every part of his being.

The Last RecitalDavid Oistrakh, Violin · Paul Badura-Skoda, PianoFirst Release! Live Recording of the Last Recital of David Oistrakh at the Musikverein Concert Hall in Vienna, May 29, 19742 CD Box
W. A. Mozart: Sonata in F major KV 377 · F. Schubert: Sonata in A major D 574 · L. van Beethoven: Sonata in C minor Op. 30/2 · W. A. Mozart: 6 Variations in D minor KV 360 · F. Schu-bert: Sonata in G minor D 408 · L. van Beethoven: Sonata in F major Op. 24 (Spring)
The composure with which Oistrakh allows Schubert’s A major sonata to repose has the effect of one big understatement. Nonetheless, the lyrical qualities of the underestimated piece can nowhere be experienced more beautifully, freshly and natu-rally than in this newly issued live recording of the last recital.DIE ZEIT, 7 Dec 2006The violin and piano speak the same language, with the com-plexity of tempo, entries, dynamics and tonal shading always gauged to perfectly match the slightest detail, no matter how fleeting. The slow movement in the Beethoven C minor sonata sets a tremendous standard in this regard. Several encores and taped portions of a rehearsal (made in Vienna in 1972) round off this excellent recital disc. Diapason 11/06

ARTIST CONSORT was originally (only) the name for an idea.
The musicians François Benda and Felix Renggli had been dreaming of an
alternative approach to how classical music recordings were produced in the CD
industry. They felt that it should be up to the very best performing artists, not
the market, to determine which classical CDs are produced: artistic ethos and
independence, creative imagination and virtuosity in place of outside control.
GENUIN is now providing the platform for this vision. And in tribute to the
flowering of ensemble music in the seventeenth century, the name of the series
of CDs featuring works from the Baroque period to New Music stands for the
highest standards and vibrant artistry—ARTIST CONSORT.
