“Nothing separates the men from the boys during extreme competition such as the regattas leading up to the 07 America's Cup”. And, I wanted to share with RLIRLI an interesting report I received from the field using the specially formulated, low foaming, high performance BioBio--UltimaxUltimaxfluid that you formulated exclusively for BMWOracle Racing.
BMWOracle has constructed one of two of their 07 Cup boats. Their chief hydraulic fabricator technician and boat builder Rolf Engleberts, had called me about converting from their MIL SPEC 83272 fluid to the special BioBio--UltimaxUltimax. And, I reviewed the flushing procedure with him. Two days later Rolf called me and said they changed out the old fluid to the Bio UltimaxBio Ultimax overnight without telling the sailing team.
After the day of racing, the sailing team returned to port asking Rolf "what did you do to the hydraulic system?" Rolf replied, "what do you mean”? The grinders and pumpers all noticed less frictional operation. When Rolf told them that all he had done was to change out the fluid to the BioBio--UltimaxUltimax special formula - they could not believe it. As a foot note, I was also told that any time they spilled the BioBio--UltimaxUltimax such as in changing out a fitting. it was very easy on the hands too. Reported to be almost like a hand lotion.....but very easy to clean up. I share with you this comment because the MIL SPEC oils have a notorious reputation of eating up the sails stored under deck and are difficult to clean up do to their wicking characteristics.

Why RLI Biobased?Bio-Penetrating Lubricant (BPL)
"Biobased Lubricants that Perform Like Synthetics"
A specially formulated, ultimately biodegradable1 penetrant that can be used as a light lubricant. Because of the super high viscosity index of the HOBS, this product performs in many applications. BPL’s patented composition of additives and base fluids provides a protective, thin film lubricant. This natural oily film has shown in laboratory and field tests to outperform petroleum base oils in terms of natural lubricity. BPL is formulated to penetrate into close tolerant areas, then lubricate, and prevent corrosion. BPL’s ability to creep is demonstrated by placing a 3/8” x 2” bolt on its head with ¼” of BPL in the bottom of a lab beaker; BPL creeps vertically up the threads. It protects deep into the core of a cable or chain link and is excellent as a light air tool lubricant and preservative oil for parts. BPL contains no VOCs, displaces moisture, and provides a high dielectric (47 kV ASTM D-887) insulating property in electrical equipment. This product has exceptional benefits over petroleum oils in these applications because there is direct danger of polluting the water, soil, or work environment through loss of the petroleum lubricant.
