BOYT BAUM BERTKE HIGH SCHOOLS — CITIZEN PATRIOT ALL-AREA SOFTBALL TEAM HERENDEEN GEORGOPOULOS HALE Second Team Lauren Baum Springport Senior Outfielder Center fielder was a Division 3 all-state pick by the coaches association. She hit .458 with six extra-base hits and scored 27 runs. Alyssa Bertke Columbia Central Senior Infielder The shortstop led the team in hits (51) and with a .464 batting average She drove in 28 runs and struck out four times in 110 at-bats. Alexis Boyt Western Senior Infielder Power-hitting infielder and four-year varsity player hit .382 with 17 extra-base hits that included seven triples and three home runs. Kristal Georgopoulos Jackson Senior Outfielder The JCC-bound outfielder hit .351 (34-for-97) for the Vikings. She is a repeat selection to the all-area second team. Olivia Hale Vandercook Lake Senior Infielder An honorable mention Division 3 all-stater, Hale hit .445 with 53 hits. The four-year var- sity player was two-time all-conference pick. Kellyn Herendeen Grass Lake Sophomore Infielder Herendeen, a two-year starter, was the area’s top hitter in the regular season at .515 and was good on all 31 steal attempts. Lauren Miller Columbia Central Junior Pitcher/Infielder Miller was 14-3 with a 1.55 ERA, striking out 159 batters in 97 innings. Also a first base- man, she led the team with 10 doubles. Adrienne Niciporek Northwest Junior Infielder Second baseman was Northwest’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. She hit .375 with 48 hits, 38 runs and 28 RBIs. Samantha Pierce Michigan Center Junior Pitcher Pierce posted a 20-17 record with an area- best 321 strikeouts in 244 innings. She walked just 28 batters. Roxanne Rickert Manchester Senior Infielder Rickert hit .418 and struck out just six times in 98 at-bats. She had three triples, four home runs and drove in 41 runs. Mallory Renfroe Homer Junior Catcher Big hitter for the Big Eight co-champs had 15 extra-base hits to go with .395 average. She had three home runs and drove in 29 runs. PIERCE MILLER NICIPOREK RICKERT RENFROE Brie Rosecrants JACKSON SENIOR INFIELDER The shortstop will attend Grand Rapids Community College on a softball scholarship. She hit .389 with 16 extra-base hits. A four-year standout, she was an all-conference player at Western as a sophomore before transferring. POSITION PLAYER OF THE YEAR Andi Dragonetti LUMEN CHRISTI SOPHOMORE CATCHER PITCHER OF THE YEAR Kelsie Prendel COLUMBIA CENTRAL SENIOR Shelby Bristow NORTHWEST SENIOR OUTFIELDER The power-hitting outfielder was a three-year starter at Northwest. This year, she had a big offensive season with 12 doubles, two triples and three home runs for a team that finished 27- 11. She drove in 40 runs. Libby Tremain GRASS LAKE SENIOR CATCHER The three-year starter and team captain hit .475 (39-for-82) and scored 33 runs for the Cascades Conference champions. She threw out 16 runners attemping to steal and has signed to play at Jackson Community College. Sydney Buerster NORTHWEST SOPHOMORE PITCHER Buerster posted an 18-9 record with a 1.15 earned run average. She struck out 206 batters in 183 innings and walked just 14. At the plate, Buerster hit .377 with 46 hits and scored 32 runs as the Mounties’ leadoff hitter. Whitney Weeks NORTHWEST SENIOR INFIELDER The two-time team MVP and team captain moved from first base to shortstop and did not miss a beat. She hit .430 with 17 extra-base hits, including four home runs and five triples, and drove in 43 runs. She has signed with JCC. Taylor Dillon LUMEN CHRISTI SENIOR OUTFIELDER Dillon, a three-year starter, played center field and was voted the Titans’ defensive MVP. She also was second on the team in hits (53), led the 23-16 Titans in runs (41) and was named to the all-CAAC Red and all-district teams. KateLynn Wilson SPRINGPORT SENIOR PITCHER Wilson, the team’s MVP, was a two-year all- conference pick and the Big Eight co-champion’s top hitter. She was 20-12 with a 3.67 ERA and 149 strikeouts in 196 innings. She hit .462 (49- for-106) with 17 extra-base hits. Ashley Nearpass JACKSON SENIOR INFIELDER Nearpass, a senior first baseman, was 51- for-112 hitting (.455) and pounded out 20 extra-base hits. She scored 33 runs, drove in 31 runs and will be attending Kellogg Community College on a softball scholarship. Roger Cook GRASS LAKE COACH Cook helped the Warriors to their first outright Cascades Conference softball title. Their 24 wins set a school record, and Grass Lake also won a Division 4 district title. Cook is 160-116 in nine years at Grass Lake. Joelle Peterson GRASS LAKE INFIELDER The power-hitting first baseman was 39-for- 97 (.402) with 51 RBIs and 28 runs scored. She was second in the area with five home runs and had 105 RBIs the last two seasons. She has signed with Division II Lake Superior State. Jenny Stautz Manchester Senior School’s career leader in pitching wins (47), strikeouts (506) and home runs (8). Madelyn Trudell Napoleon Senior Pirates’ MVP was a three-year varsity player. She hit .448 with 10 extra-base hits. Jennifer VanRiper Northwest Senior Three-year varsity starter and third baseman hit .349 and scored 41 runs.
